My MacBook Pro Crashed Today

This morning was not a good start for me. Just as I poured my first cup of coffee, I sat down with my Mac and decided to upgrade to the El Capitan operating system, the latest OS for Macs. Halfway through the upgrade, my hard drive crashed. Luckily, an Apple store just opened up in my city (thank goodness, the next closest one is 2 hours away), so I immediately headed over so the techs could look at my laptop. I was hoping it was something simple that was caused by the new OS upgrade, but nope, when they took a look at it they said it definitely was the hard drive. The good news is that they can fix it. The bad news is that it will take 5 business days. So I'm going to be lost for the next week without my trusty MacBook by my side. I have two older laptops that have been collecting dust in my closet, so I tried firing both of them up to see if they would suffice until my MacBook was fixed. But no, neither one of them were working either! I guess it's just been one of those days!

They explained it to me today. I incorrectly identified the problem as the hard drive. It's the motherboard (or input board as some people call it) that is fried.

@moffittjc Okay, if it is the motherboard they have to change it, there is nothing you can do, because Apple does not sell the components. This would surely be expensive, I believe you can buy an Android laptop with what it will cost.

I found out yesterday that it is going to cost $750 to repair my Mac. Yikes! You can buy a new laptop for that price! But not a Mac though. I am hooked on my Mac, and so I don't want to go back to Windows-based laptops. It would cost me anywhere from $1500-$2000 to buy a new Mac, so it's worth it to spend $750 to repair the one I have. It's been a great laptop.
