What you will do if you received an email from one of your biggest client with an email subject “New Project” with an attached filename “Payment Scheme”. Our account department open the email and downloaded the attached file. Viola! Computer virus starts to spread relentlessly. It automatically forward itself to all the email address you have on your address book. Customers keep on ringing us why we send them virus and the IT department asked us to shutdown all our PC for them to clean off our system. Now, the outlook is open, a tsunami of emails are now flowing in. Haha! Guys be careful in opening an email even if it is from your prestigious client.

That client is probably having big trouble with their computers, too. I suppose that we tend to open emails from certain people without thinking.

@indexer IT department should know that right? My boss is jumping up and down yesterday and can see in his eyes the frustration.

@wiLLmaH That is hardly surprising. The solution is to get proper virus protection on all your computers.

But Kevin, even some of our close friends are infected by virus too. They are sharing the virus to everyone in their address book.

The email attachments are the most dangerous treats for a computer.

@wiLLmaH It is always better to check if the email address from where the attachments are sent is a legitimate address. Many time you can discover the trick looking at the details of the sender.

I've gotten things like that in my other email account, but never happened to my previous work/department account. It would be disastrous if it did.

Disastrous, shameful(we keep on explaining to our clients what really happened) and time consuming (to get rid off the virus).

Hey there, WiLLmaH, That's... Awful. There's no other way to put this. It is a terrible thing to happen, but it does happen. Viruses can be potentially strong in a company's environment. It could ruin the credibility of a whole brand. Where I work, all computers have a strong anti-virus and the mail have a scanner within. Which means that it would be extremely hard for a virus to get in the computers. Though nobody is 100% safe, my company really does its best to keep the computers clean. Hope things get well in there, hahaha. Regards!

I am always careful when I open e-mails. One time I opened one with a virus and it destroyed my computer. It was not fun. I can't believe how easy it is to spread viruses nowadays. Hopefully everything is fixed soon at your office.

I am always very cautious about opening an attachment unless I know someone is sending it to me.
