New users seem to be spammers at present

Seeing quite a few new users signing in just to blatantly plug their jewellery, teeth whitening and hangover pills services complete with web links to the businesses. I've reported a few myself today and yesterday. It's like shooting fish in a barrel.

I am newbie here. I checked my page and my 4 posts to find out if I did it, too! No, I did not do it and will never do!

Yes, there's a handful every day, including some who have had accounts since before July 2015 and who have posted 'spam' before, but they're relatively easy to spot and to deal with. There are also quite a few genuine new users (who aren't here to spam) as well. Of course, most of them won't have read the Guidelines &c., so they often get things wrong at first.
Of course, if you see a spam discussion, you should report it, but where members' eyes are REALLY valuable is in spotting the sneaky spammers who only post spam responses and comments. If it happens in your discussions or under your responses or comments, please report before deleting because that is the only way that Admin can know about these people!

@crazyhorseladycx that's great - if everyone does their bit this will be a spam free zone before we know it

hopefully staff will expand as the needs of the site grow and we should all do what we can to support them. The mistake Bubblews made was not taking notice of member's concerns and warnings

@sofssu You are saying that you reported spammers and they are still around? You may come across 'spam' which was posted before 18 July. Alex will not delete those because they were posted before the rules changed (see the "Administrative Advisement" of that date). He also won't always delete an account if it seems that the person is a bona fide user who simply hasn't read the rules.
Please send a message to GoAskAlice and give more detail if you think that something hasn't been deleted that should have been.
There are new ones every day (who may well be the same people but with new accounts) but ANYONE spamming after 18 July 2015 will almost certainly have their account deleted within 24 hours. You may come across 'spam' which was posted before 18 July. Alex will not delete those because they were posted before the rules changed (see the "Administrative Advisement" of that date).

@owlwings yes they may well try bouncing back with similarly named and themed accounts until they realize they are not going to take root here

All we can do is just keep reporting them.. They might keep coming back but they will give up sooner or later.

I am sad that you immediately reported that you should have warned them as they are new. I am disappointed. But if you did that for old users, i am happy bro.
Being a new user i too had some situation. But my ffriends replied that they banned items here. So my friend, first educate and then shoot lol!

@owlwings some of those I reported today have already gone - not checked the others - I may not be the only one reporting them of course

when ya alert some'f these folks they get mighty cranky, rude 'n foul languaged. that's why its best to turn such matters o'er to the moderator 'f any site. let 'em discuss with the individual 'n determine if'n they're legit 'r not.
