The "Wake Up!" Phone Call Phenomenon

I don't like unexpected phone calls. Am not one who likes getting calls. I'd prefer you text me if you have anything to tell me. Or send me a message in Facebook or something but don't just call me without letting me know. Even if it is a business call I still prefer to be informed. Of course that doesn't happen all the time. Yesterday, someone called me to set up an appointment 2 hrs before my waking time. Wow. And then earlier, I was just falling asleep in the sleeping quarters at the office when I got a business call. Uhm, way to wake up others who were sleeping in the room too eh? Anyway I had to get out of the room and try to find a way to call the client since she hung up already. Pointless because wasn't able to get to call them and they didn't respond to my texts so I went about what I had planned to do before going home. I notice I get more phone calls when I'm sleeping. Why can't people call me when I'm awake eh? Even if I'm on night shift, people can call me in the morning and evening and yet they choose to call me when I am asleep. Why not turn the phone off you say? I choose not to turn it off because it is my alarm clock. I prefer to use it because the alarm sets off at different times. How about you, would you like to be woken up at different times by your mobile ringtone too? What do you think of this phenomenon? Nah it's not a conspiracy theory but I think I just made it into one or something.

Haha, people think I work the normal hours. I should inform all of them eh? But then again strangers don't know it. Some people like calling instead of texting because they don't want to type everything they want to say. We're opposites in that regard.

I think I have a solution, buy an alarm clock with the possibility to have different alarms and shut off your phone, this is what I did.

I haven't seen any alarm clock having different alarms yet. All I see are one time alarm types. Not that I'm really looking yet but if I can find one I'd definitely keep my phone on silent mode.

@owstalaga I have an alarm clock where I can set up to 10 different alarms with different sounds.

@LadyDuck Where'd you buy it? Do you have a pic? Maybe I'll just buy online if I can't find any locally.

I suppose when you work night shifts you will always be bogged by calls in the daytime when these people (decision makers) will be working in the normal day time hours.

I found a solution... Somehow I found that I should just put my phone on silent mode and my phone would not ring at all. But the alarm will still ring loudly so I'm finally saved!

@artemeis It won't matter if they are important if they disrupt my sleep. It can wait until I am awake for me to deal with it. If it's a family emergency I have siblings people can call to if I can't be reached anyway.

@owstalaga I am concern about your solution where I have to ask: What about the calls to you? Aren't the calls to you supposed to be important to you? Surely the office would know better than to call you other than important official business while you are sleeping. Anyway I hope that this is both effective and alright for you.

Turn the ringer off. Stops the calls but your wake up alarms will still work.

I don't think my smart phone has that option... It only has the option to have overall sound or not. Maybe I should get a better and more expensive smart phone.

@boiboing Yeah, it's a low end one so it's not that smart. Don't think there are any smart phone concerned with the alarm clock sound and ring tone settings.
