I usually buy quality for bigger purchases like shoes, clothes, and some food items. I buy quantity on certain supplies that are not too important to me like toilet paper or my child's nappy. I mean, I do check if it can do a "decent" job at least. If it can, then it is good enough for me.

Same here. Food is something that i go for quality.
After all, there is a limit to the quantity we can eat everyday, but once quality is compromised, we will suffer when we get sick.
I do like good shoes that will get more and more comfortable with use.
I do not mind wearing cheap clothes, but not cheap shoes.

@scheng1 Yes, it's true. Although I have a couple of shoes that are surprisingly comfy and cheap at the same time! If I encounter anything like that, it doesn't matter to me if it a no-name brand whatever. I put quality on top of everything! I just compromise on so-so or average quality on certain items but it still has to function so I will buy. There is no sense to buy something so cheap if it doesn't perform at all. That's a total waste of money.

Most of the times i go for quality because it is better to have something small and good than much with no benefit

True, it is definitely better to save up and buy quality good that lasts longer.
I think this applies to fresh fruits and vegetables too.
Even though sometimes the discount is given for meat that is near expiry date, I still think it is better to buy fresh meat.

@scheng1 It would be better to buy the fresh and expensive meat rather than the almost expired and later get sick

O, I am cheap coz I don't make good money like Donald Trump! So, I always buy one that is cheap but not entirely out of quality.

Being cheap and being frugal are different.
I am sure you do not go for the cheapest in the area.
Once my friend bought a China-made shoes that were dirt cheap. It cost less than $5.
After using it once, and her feet hurt for ages, she threw it away.
I think that is really the most expensive purchase.
