I was!
When I was 9 years old I was hooked to playing the "cara-o-cruz" game with my fellow kids. It is actually a form of gambling as we bet one-cent coin.
One day after school, my classmates and I on our way home decided to play the gambling game again. I did not notice my late father, who hated gambling, approached me from behind. Without any word he hit me on the butt with a bamboo cane. It really hurt that I peed on my short pants!
I was so embarrassed in front of my classmates that I cried and ran as fast as I could and went to my late grandpa's house and told him what happened. My grandpa got mad when he saw that the part of my butt hit by my father turned blue.
He got out the house when he saw my father approaching. He yelled at him - "Why did you cane your son when I never did that to you when you stole your mother's money when you were 12 years old to play bingo?"
My late father did not say a word; he just left. Grandpa took me home and told my late mother what happened. Since then my late father was very kind to me. Today is the death anniversary of my late loving grandfather.
Have you ever been so embarrassed in your life? Grandpa, if you are listening wherever you are, just let you know I never hit my 4 kids when they were young.

Oh that must have been so embarrassing for you! I've been embarrassed plenty of times, but for some reason ever since I think I was 5, I have vowed never to cry at least in front of my parents. Did you ever get the full story of your dad and bingo??

Kids are kids so they should never be spanked , just be reprimanded verbally . At least , you had your grandpa to berate your father too .

Not that I can remember, but I don't remember much of my early childhood.

That was so embarrassing for any boy I should say. But I think good lesson you learned from that.
