Cooked up the chicken scraps for the cats

The cats were going crazy once I opened the chicken breasts to begin packaging them. There were small pieces of meat and fat I trimmed off each one that I set aside. They were really begging for some, but I won't feed them raw chicken. So, I've had those pieces simmering away in a small saucepan for the past 30-45 minutes and they're finally cooked all the way through. Now I'm going to let them cool and then cut them up for the critters as a tasty treat they don't get very often. (I know it's not good for this to be a regular diet.) I hope they appreciate my efforts.

Cats think they deserve everything, they don't appreciate any effort to do things for them, they think you took too long!

It's funny - they were all over me when I was cutting up the chicken, but once it was cooked, they weren't nearly as excited. Maybe I didn't season it right. LOL

@jerzgirl cats have very powerful digestive systems, after all, in the wild they never could cook things... however, their food wasn't produced in over crowded "factory farms" the way most food is today. So, understand that they think we are ruining the food by cooking it...

@ElicBxn They do, but after generations of domestication, they don't digest things as they used to in the wild. Still, their innate instincts want raw over cooked (with a few exceptions). Mine dearly love lunchmeat, but it's not something even their hoomans get often.

IT's a hit or miss if my cats like any human food or not. Sometimes you will find Boots nibbling on something. The other day he was after some spaghetti sauce that got dribbled on the floor but you could offer him his favorite porkchops and may or may not want it.

@jerzgirl I will agree they can be weird. One cat will just stand and stare you down but then not take it once you offer. The big guy well he likes to lick the salt off of potato chips and when he was a bit younger he earned the nick name pork chop because he once ran off with a pork chop that was left on a plate by one of the kids LOL

@3SnuggleBunnies I had one cat who LOVED peanuts and peanut butter!! I mean, he went gaga over it. If my parents sent me a care package with a can of planters peanuts, it wouldn't be long before I had a paw reaching down over my shoulder into the can to scoop up a peanut or two. And, I would give him peanut butter from a spoon and, after all the effort it took to eat what I gave him, he'd ask for more. I love my critters.

I've always had cats who were thrilled about being given hooman food as a treat, but these are a fickle bunch. Tiki thinks everything we eat should be hers, but when we deliberately arrange it for her, she frequently turns it down. Chloe wanted nothing to do with our food at all until recently and strongly favors pork chop bones and lunchmeat, Baby Cat goes bonkers over chips. Not much else. But, if she hears a bag of chips being opened, you instantly have an audience and pleading eyes. And, she does eat them.
