Every Tuesday and Friday villagers from the nearby villages pour in to sell vegetables in the market of our town. You can get fresh vegetables at reasonable rate there.
Today is Tuesday. In the morning I had to buy fresh vegetables.Mom gave me Rs.200 to buy vegetables, butI forgot that I already had Rs.1100 in my pocket.
I bought brinjal, tomato and two bundles of coriander there. Now I had to buy two kilograms cauliflower. But when I checked my pockets to see how much money was left,I was shocked. Not a single rupee was there.Obviously someone had picked my pocket.
I immediately returned home, and again went back to the market place after taking another one hundred rupee note from my mom to buy cauliflower.
My friend says that losing money in festive season is inauspicious.Really?? I asked him back,'When losing money is auspicious? He had no answer.

that stinks! I've heard getting a bag to hang around your neck and tuck your money in there, under clothes (or several bags hidden under your clothes so that its not all in one place) is a good way to prevent that

@Jessicalynnt,All I can say is now on I will be more than careful. The market was crowded and somebody took undue advantage of the crowd. It's festive season here in India.

I looked up brinjal to see what it was - it's eggplant, or in some countries aubergine. I would love to visit a marketplace in India. It must be exciting, if one can keep their wallet.

I don't know how much money you lost, as I don't know the equivalent in dollars. I hope it wasn't very much. But it is the feeling of being cheated and violated that leaves you feeling bad. A few years ago I went into my office, leaving my purse on the seat of my car. I came out about an hour later, and my window was smashed and my purse was gone. They used three credit cards within a very short time, before I could get the cards stopped. It was traumatic, as everything was in my purse. I also had to get my window replaced, and they didn't do a great job. They did catch them, though, as they had been doing what they call "smash and grab" into cars. They got one woman who left the car running while she went into a church for just a moment. It was a couple of young guys.

And i don't believe that losing money is auspicious at all.
