I probably have one, somewhere. . .

I bought a new printer long before we moved because our old one was slowly dying. I think the move killed the old one, in fact. So the new one has been sitting in the box for about two months.
I did not get a wireless printer, my mistake, I guess.
It did not come with a USB cord.
Before I moved I probably had a zillion of them. I do not know where they went. We drove back to our old area to Wal Mart to get one. I did some other shopping while we were there.
Tomorrow I will quite likely find some cords in a box or a bag. I kept my receipt and will take the new ones back, if that is the case.
This whole thing about setting up a computer is new to me, my son used to do it all for me.
So we go with the learning curve.

Wireless printers need a USB cable, too, at least for the initial setup. Kind of silly, huh?
I hope you're able to find a cable that will work among the things that got packed in the move. They tend to be a lot more expensive than they need to be.

Definitely more expensive than necessary. When I picked up my desktop at the shop the other day I got two new ethernet cords and he was very inexpensive, but he was not as close or open when I discovered this need.

Lol! before buying, you should have to read the user reviews of the particular product.

The reason I got this one is I had used one at someone else's house and liked it really well.

@GardenGerty Then you should have to read the review of the seler wo shipped. I must say that you should initiate a refund for sure.

@GardenGerty He's got to do this sort of stuff at work, so he knows what he's doing. I could probably figure it out for myself though if I needed to. I'm not completely hopeless!

I've had an Epson dot matrix printer in the past. But I love my laser printer. I hope you have better luck with your printer.

@GardenGerty Me too. The only thing I do need to replace is the toner cartridge, when it runs out. And that's like 3 years, 5000 printed pages.

Yah a lot of people don't like setting them up. what is easy is the color coding on the cable and the back of the computer. They basically tell you where to put the cable. As for a new printer these days it's all plug and play. Printers do have a lot of packing and tape on them that has to be removed. So look carefully your find it all. Then plug and turn on and insert disk and let it go. It's really not all that hard and you should get the hang of it rather easily. Good luck if you have an issue just tell me here and I will point you in the right direction.

I think I got all the trash out except maybe a piece that is in the paper feed. Have to check. I have a printed starter page, a disk and a link for online help and a manual.

@poehere putting in the ink was almost the hardest part. Found my bag of cords, but I did not have one for this printer. I have a disk but did not need it, just set up from the website.

@GardenGerty Normally it's very simple. Unpack the printer, put in the ink, plug it in, add the USB cable to the computer, turn it on. You should see new material detected in right lower corner. Now put in disk and install the disk. Let the programs on the disk install. Now you're done. Hope that helps.

Too bad you're not near here, I have several stashed away. I was contemplating giving some to the Goodwill store! I don't want to count the times I have misplaced something or thought I didn't have it, bought it, then found it. All that money I could have saved...

That happens to me often. I will lose something I need and buy a new one and then of course find the old one!

@jstory07 Good idea, I put tags on the cords, cause that is what I have. I do not know about how a wireless computer works in general. . . that would be a question where you are shopping.

Glad that you were able to find a cord for the printer. We have a wireless all 1 printer which also scans. But the wifi in it is starting to fail and the scanner doesn't always work. We'll probably just replace it the next time it requires new ink.

Mine did that, but I have new ink cartridges in it, so if I can I am going to get it going again as well as the new one.

I got cords, and hope that I like the new one. In the old one the wireless failed and the scanner quit but we had had it a long time.

I admire you for learning to do it! We did get a wireless printer. My laptop wouldn't work with it. I was having other problems too so took it in for a tune up. Now it works with the printer but other things I don't know how to put back the way they were. :(
