Finished Table Runner

Thanksgiving side

I finished the holiday table runner I was working on. One side is Halloween and the other is Thanksgiving (and fall). I used only fabric that I already had and thread that I had, so it didn't cost me a thing at this time. I would have liked more color on the Thanksgiving side, I didn't really want the browns touching, but I wouldn't have had enough fabric for the binding if I added orange to it and I didn't have much else that would have worked. I will probably do a Christmas table runner too, but I'm not sure what to put on the other side of that one, or if I will just make it a single holiday table runner.

The last couple of projects I've done I tried to use only fabrics that I already have, unfortunately it doesn't always work. I have used up some of the fabric I have, but there is still a lot left to use.

@fawkes62 I had a lot of fabric and was working my way through a lot of UFO's and trying to use , mostly fabric on hand. Then in November my mother passed away. I now have added her UFO's ans piles of fabric. I'm going to be very busy.

Oh how pretty!! It's nice when you can do a project with stuff you already have on hand. I really should stop buying more craft materials and actually make something!

@fawkes62 I have piles and piles of arts and crafts "someday" materials - tons of projects I have yet to touch. I'll be trying to use more of it up too! But you sure made a nice project out of yours!

I have piles of fabric to use, some I bought for projects I haven't done yet (and can't remember at the moment, some I got from my sister-in-law's mother-in-law when they were cleaning out her house, and some I picked up cheap. Now I just need to use more of it up.

I was thinking of New Year's too. I am sure you will come up with a good idea. I'll be waiting to see what you came up with.

New Year's is not a holiday I've decorated for before, so I will have to look around some for ideas. It might be interesting to see what I could do for that.

I like it very much and I agree with @TheHorse about putting a New Year design on the back of the Christmas runner. I love snowmen and after I take up the Christmas decorations I will leave the snowmen and snow inspired decorations out. I like to decorate my monthly and weekly planner and for the January 2016 I am going to go with a Frozen theme, I love Olaf the snowman!

I like Olaf too. I hadn't thought about snowmen, I will have to see if I have any snowmen fabric. I'm hoping to not have to purchase any fabric for it, so my options may be somewhat limited.

I reckon you could put a New Year (maybe representing seasons?) design on the other side of the Christmas one. That looks really nice!

Thanks. I hadn't thought of New Year's, I've never decorated for that holiday before.

I love it. I have several runners my sister made for me plus some I bought through the years. I use them all the time down the middle of my table.

You could just make the stuff for yourself, or give them away once your done. Maybe your family would want them once they saw them too.

It was actually not that much work since it's fairly small. It only took me a couple of hours spread over a few days.

That's a very nice table runner! Maybe you can make the other side of the next one without a specific theme so you can use it anytime of the year.

Thank you. That's a good idea too. I will have to see what I all have to see if I could do that without having to buy more fabric.

aw, that turned out jest great, ms. shannon! did'ja do it 's kinda a 'quilt 's ya go' kinda thingy? i've been tryin' out a few'f those ideas myself 'f late. i love usin' up the fabric remnants 'round here. those from dresses fer the momma're somewhat challengin' with all their odd angles 'n such. sure i'll figure somethin' though. i reckon ya could do 2 diff'rent patterns 'n yer Christmas runner - that way ya could switch't o'er from time to time fer a whole new look.

I just made it like a regular quilt, but I do want to try the quilt as you go thing sometime. I probably have enough Christmas fabric to do it double sided as Christmas. I might do that.
