I don't think there is a guideline here for that. but if you do one after another after another you will lose visitors I'm sure. You need to give people time to read/comment, etc.

@AbbyGreenhill,You are right.Discussions started back to back without leaving time are likely to lose visitors.I now don't think of time, just keep waiting for one or two likes and comments and then go for another.

@AbbyGreenhill Commenting is fun. It's interaction. While enjoying interaction you may forget starting a discussion of your own.

@else34 Sometimes I get busy commenting that I forget to start a discussion for hours.

When I used to do a lot of discussions I would measure out the time by how much I did between. I would post a discussion, have maybe interaction with ten others, check the first discussion and respond then post my next discussion.

@GardenGerty,To some extent I do exactly that.I wait for only two or three likes and comments and then initiate another discussion if I have an idea.

Anyone that posts one discussion after another. will be ignored, as it would make me think that all they are going to do is start discussions, and not do anything about them. When you do one after the other, you would have a hard time keeping up with them, and the interaction is what needs to be done to earn in here. I very seldom start discussions, as it is easier for me to just respond and comment on others discussions. I love the interaction that we do in here as it is what makes mylot what is.

@sofssu,Of course, restrictions are not there. You may initiate as many discussions as you like, but I wanted to know how much time should be left between two consecutive discussions. Here also I can understand if two discussions are started back to back, they are not likely to get exposer. Now I have decided I would initiate my second discussion after my first one receives at least two likes and/or two comments.

At least a week or two, in my case!
I spend so much time responding and commenting on other people's discussions that I rarely find it necessary to post my own.
Seriously, though, I'd suggest spacing them out through the day. Different people come online at different times so spacing them out means that each one gets a new audience.

I think that is entirely up to the writer. I rarely write more than 1 a day, but that's because I spend more time reading other people's stuff and such
