Great Customer Service, Thanks Direct TV!

Those are words people seldom hear but I like to give credit where credit is due! I mailed my check 10/10 and was informed by e-mail that it wasn't received and the cut off date was 10/23. I waited until 10/23 and finally had to pay by credit card, no problem.
Today I looked at my bank statement and discovered the check was received. I called Direct TV to verify that I now have a credit; yes I certainly do! While speaking with the representative I was told that we are eligible for upgraded receivers. I was given the pitch and then I asked how much extra - well, it is $13 extra a month.
I decided to go for it since I think the recording option is something my husband will use and I am curious as to how you 'stop live TV'. So after agreeing to all of this and setting up an install date I have to say that since we started with Direct TV in 2002 we really don't have anything to complain about.
Oh, the person who set up the install date also gave me a $5 discount for the next six months! WTG Direct TV, so that offsets the extra charge a little!

I believe DirecTv has about 12 hours of tv in the buffer, you could call it. So yes, you can pause live tv. The actual show keeps on rolling for the world, but this puts you a bit behind what is 'current', so that gives you some space to fast fwd when you unpause. This is great at commercial time. The recording is amazing. We rarely watch live tv anymore. Just record our shows then pick from our recordings when we sit down. Recordings work like a DVR or VHS, you can pause or records as you wish. (Granted I dont work for them, but another big one, but I have had DirecTv before, it's just been awhile).

When I was alone for 16 years I recorded shows all the time....but when we finally bought a DVD player a few years ago we didn't buy one you could record with, just view. There are times I really wanted to record something .... so now (hopefully) I can.! Thanks for the info.

@AbbyGreenhill Message me or something if you do have questions on it, ask the tech that comes for the how to guide on the remote (should be a little colorful paper thingy), it can be a bit annoying to learn, but you get WAY more out of your tv this way. you can set up series recordings to record all even old, or just new. or you can just record stuff one at a time that looks neat

I had DirecTV for a couple of years and I never had any problem with the service or the company. And if they give good customer service, that makes for good publicity for them when someone like you tells the world about a great experience.

It seems like there are always new charges being added on every time you turn around.
