I am just curious to it. The simplest kindle reader, even if you can't read it in the darkness. Is it really good for your eyesight? In fact I have a tablet to read ebooks and I can also read the colorful ebooks. So it seems it will be silly to buy the simplest kindle reader to read the black and white ebooks. But if it can be good for the eyesight, I will consider to buy one.

The Kindle is no more 'good' for the eyesight than any reading device (including paper books). Its advantages over a tablet are mostly that it is less bulky and lighter and that it has a far longer battery life - even if heavily used, the battery can last a week or longer between charges. The reading experience is more 'natural' because the screen works by reflecting light in the same way as print on paper.

@youless I don't have a kindle but my daughter has one given by their university where she is a scholar in medicine . I think you can enhance the brightness of the screen , so more or less your eyes will not be harmed much .
But i think , if you use an eyeglasses when reading from it , your eyes would be protected from the UV rays it might emit .

I don't own a kindle but I think for a longer reading, kindle shouldn't be preffered.
