Oops. I eat oatmeal. I like cats, and I live alone. But I don't think I am really a hermit. I work at going out and seeing people several times each week. Remember the TV show Cheers, where everyone knows your name? I have a few places like that.

I live right next to a town like that, too. You can never go to the grocery store or the post office without stopping for at least five conversations. But where I actually live is quite remote -- if you remember, I take a boat to get to my house, and so the hermit designation is fairly accurate. Maybe a "friendly hermit"?

@Sheilamarie78 I live on a hill. There are really only a couple of streets where I have neighbors. Too bad I don't live on the one behind my house. They are more social than my street. Here, people drive into their garages, shut the doors, and stay inside.

I've never celebrated hermit day, cat day or oatmeal day until now. You have to wonder why someone would name a day for any of those three. Now chocolate I would understand. I can understand cat day too...but hermit, ok I feel sorry for them when I see them and I give to the food bank and to the local charity shops but I've never met a hermit...yet.

@Sheilamarie78 You are right, My dad had a great friend who was a retired farmer and he visited every once in a while but lived like a hermit. No running water, no electricity all by choice I loved that man and had forgotten about him so thanks for the reminder.

It seems an odd combination and I can't help wondering who gets all these bright ideas. Personally every day is a cat day, I rarely eat oatmeal and I wouldn't give a toss about hermits.

There's got to be an economic connection, though it's an odd combination for sure. I heard it on the radio this morning while eating my oatmeal.

I honestly think all these days that they have now are making them less special, just too many of them.

I don't know who makes them up. They could have been started by greeting card companies as a way to get people to buy more cards, but seriously, who would ever send anyone a "Happy Oatmeal Day" card?

Ha ha! Well ... I did eat oatmeal, so I celebrated on of the days!

I don't eat oatmeal, not a cat person, so I guess I'll become a hermit for the day.

I find these random days a bit silly. Especially as people start sharing them on Facebook and are often months late by the time they've done the rounds.
