Watching Pointless and going through Artists with paintings that have reached over $20 million at auction, a shocker when this painting was mentioned to reach a Staggering $137,5 in 2006. Oh my word and this is the painting: WOMAN III - Willem de Kooning - Dutch painter What are your thoughts??

Isnt it odd? I cannot believe a modern art piece that looks as weird and strange as that gets $137 million at an auction - is the bidder Blind perhaps?

@Inlemay I've never even heard of him. It looks like a kid's scribbled it.

It's an important painting because it's a precursor to American abstract expressionism. However, I don't like it.

I agree - it looks like an old hex trying to pull down her panty in need of the toilet - but she has scissor hands and is afraid she might Nip Tuck something,

Johannes Vermeer's were just as dear in the auction - but I love this Minion version of the Lady with the pearl earring.

I rather like it - I'd have happily paid $5.00 for it - seriously, art should not be treated as a commodity investment by people with no appreciation for anything but power - that money could feed thousands

I agree with you there - that money could be used in $137 million different ways to make a difference in the world - i cannot get over the price for this piece of "ART" ??

Got to love Pointless! What an horrific painting. I would not spend one cent on it, never mind that ridiculous amount of money.

It seems that the value of artists masterpieces is sometimes as fake as the value of some singers and artists.

I would never pay some thing like that for any painting. I enjoy art. What I like doesn't need to please anyone but myself. Some things that are sold as art, just confuse me.
