1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Before a person accepts Jesus as Savior and Lord, everything about God is unnatural and foolish. It is impossible for someone who does not know Jesus to understand how much He loves them and what He came to do for them.
Even if you have been in church all your life and practiced the rituals of religion, it doesn't mean you know Jesus as Savior and Lord. What you know is about Him but you do not know Him, not personally the way He wants you to know Him.
I spent my entire childhood and into my adult life in church. I went to church every Sunday, and went to parochial school. I learned about Jesus, but was never told I needed to have a personal relationship with Him.
It wasn't until someone started teaching me about a personal relationship with Jesus that the eyes of my understanding opened. I had a lot of questions, but none of them were properly answered until the day came when I made Jesus my personal Savior and Lord.
Then I opened my Bible and read it every day. Then I turned on the radio to a Christian station and listened to various teachers and soaked up everything they said and read it for myself in the Bible.
One of the first things I learned was found in John.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (KJV)
It took me a while to understand that there is nothing we can do to earn salvation because Jesus gave it freely on the cross. He died so I could live. He rose the third day so I could have eternal life, and He is coming again to take me to Him in heaven.
I thought going to church and being good was the way to get to heaven. I thought knowing about Jesus and getting good grades in religion class would get me to heaven. But that is not what the Bible says. Jesus said we must be born again.
When you know Jesus as Savior and Lord, the Bible will not seem foolish to you. You too will understand that nothing you can do will get you one inch closer to heaven. It is only by believing Jesus is the Son of God and accepting what He did for you on the cross that will give you eternal life.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (KJV)
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. (KJV)
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (KJV)
Accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord, I turned my foolishness into faith and was Born Again. Have you done the same? Have you turned the foolishness of natural man into faith in Jesus Christ to be Born Again?
There is only one way to heaven and that is through Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Thank you for reading. Have a blessed day.

great teaching and sharing, Valerie. I thought about suggesting it to our resident atheist, but I'll think about it first.

@just4him Sorry, I usually double-check to make sure I get it right. I don't think I'll ever have it memorized even after all these years.

God has to draw a person, they have to have a heart prepared to receive Him. It isn't always a matter of going to church or even knowing the scriptures, because if you haven't experienced that quickening in your spirit, the scriptures aren't open and real to you. A very nice testimony, thanks for sharing.
