My Experience in a Courtroom

I have been summoned for jury duty three times, twice in Arizona and once in California. The first trial was a civil trial in Arizona, the second trail was a criminal trial in California. They asked me questions like was I married, did I have childen and if so what were their ages. Also if I worked or not. Did I know the defendant or anyone in his family. Mostly they were just general questions. The third time I had already moved when I received the notice and had to call them to be excused. I had also sat in the audience at a couple of trails that seemed to me to be interesting and turned out to be very interesting. What has your experience been in a Courtroom?

I've always been booted, probably in part because I worked for Department of Corrections for many years. Most recently, it was a murder trial, and it took several days for them to boot me. I didn't like missing work, but I found the experience interesting.

It seems if you or a member of your family has anything to do with law enforcement they will likely boot you but just being there is interesting.

@TheHorse That would be a real surprise.

@Marcyaz I was surprised it was the prosecutor, not the defense, that booted me.

I have had to appear in court in the past in the course of my employment. I was never a juror. I have had to testify.

@Marcyaz Everything in court goes slowly, very slowly. then they break for lunch, and then they go slowly again.

I have been summoned twice and was never called both times. Luckily I was working for places that were good about it but I never had to go in.

I was also working when I was called and it was my duty to report to the court and neither one of my places of employment ever told me anything but to let them know when I would be back, if I could find out.

I have none. If I remember well you have to ask to be part of a jury, or they will never call you.

In the US you are called and unless you have a good excuse you must be on jury panel.

I was asked once to be on a jury but I had just given birth so I was excused.

Would you like to go on a jury if you were called now?

@Marcyaz Yes, I think it would be really interesting but I couldn't sit that long with my RA. And I never know from one day to the next how I will feel.

My experience in any courtroom has always been as a "defendant" lol

@Marcyaz Luckily no. It's hard to prove it was me who defiled a pumpkin. All the witnesses could only give a description from the waist down lol

@spleendingo1 You may have gotten away with it this time but watch out the next time someone may be able to give a description of you.

I was called for jury duty once. All we did was sit there for over an hour then we got to leave as the parties plead guilty without a trial.

They must have made some type of deal. To bad you couldn't have had a chance to participate in a trail.
