I Blew the Circuit

I took a nap this afternoon as it seems I've been doing almost every day. The trouble was, it was cold even under my many layers and decided to plug in the space heater. I blew out the entire front of the house - my bedroom, office, and living room. My son was asleep because he needs to be to work at 8. He told me to wake him no earlier than 6. It was 5:15 when I blew the circuit. So I let him sleep and did some reading for a budget counseling program I am required to take due to the help to pay my utilities this past summer. I heard his phone alarm go off at six and told him what happened and as you can see the power has been restored to the front of the house. Now I've had a space heater on in my room before, but then there wasn't as much on the circuit as there is now. I've added a couple lamps and a space heater in my office. So it overloaded. I do know that there is one socket in my room that isn't on the rest, it's on the furnace circuit. So when I get the furnace fixed, I'll have that outlet working, but by then I won't need any space heater in my room. So now I know what not to do in the future. Lesson learned. What lessons have you learned in the past that changed how you did things? Thanks for reading.

Sounds like you have a terrible short in your space heater and need to buy a new one. You are lucky you didn't get shocked or hurt by this.

The space heater is new. I just had too much on the circuit.

@poehere Oh yeah. I bought 2 new space heaters this year, so no chance of shortages. Just too much on the circuit.

So now you know. It takes just one accident to learn a good lesson. I learned so many good lessons from my so many mistakes in the past. One of them is not to talk when you are angry.

Did you switch the circuit back on. I have had that happen a couple times at my house.

My son did. It's in the basement and I can't get to it with my broken leg, and too, I would need to go through his room to get to the basement.

Well, Lesson learned the hard way but a lesson is a lesson!! One of my lessons which I have learned very recently is not to hide anything from my girlfriend even if it is very small!! Because she must hear about any problem that I am facing from me, not from others.
