Looking forward to broken bones - not!

The only time I ever broke anything when years ago when I tripped over a threshold that was too high and I broke my big toe and the second toe. But I am prepared for what happens to old people....they break things, they brake bones. My MIL is 95 and a few weeks ago she fell, broke her hip, had surgery and was sent to a rehab. Day two at the rehab she had company, chatted, ate lunch and was fine. That is until she decided on her own to take a walk - guess what, she fell. They took her for x-rays and thankfully nothing else broke. But she is an accident looking for a place to happen. Now they will keep the sides raised on her bed at night and someone is being paid to 'watch' her during her waking hours. I remember hearing that once you break a hip things go downhill from there...so I"m trying real hard not to break mine!

Wow, she sounds like quite a character, and I am not sure should be walking alone, lol!

Sorry to hear about you mother in law. The one exercise that is known to help extend the life expectancy by strengthening the hips is the squats. If you start doing those, they help.

I am taking 1,000 mg of calcium twice a day that's what the doc said to do since I have marginal bone loss in one hip.

Please be careful. I had never broken anything until last year. Man was that painful. My two dogs decided to charge behind me from the bridge so they could eat. I got pushed over from behind and landed on my right shoulder. I broke this bone and fractured it in 4 places I hit the gate and a giant rock. No surgery and all healed fine. No cast either because of where it broke. Take care it's no fun to do this.
