How to get high score in competitive exams?....

I have written many competitive exams to get a good job in some organizations.
My scoring was very low in the exams every time I attend even I followed related books for study.
I made a habit of reading daily papers for current affairs and general knowledge.
What is the best method for preparing any competitive exam?...

@enlightenedpsych2 This is a problem in India where even first division is failed for being a general, and person with negative marking is selected for being 'Dalit', and if somebody objects this, then the objecting person will be charged in SC ST Act for being anti-dalit
