So this is a Hershey bar

Hershey bars are something that we have heard a lot about here in England because they are often mentioned in American television programs or films. Several years ago they began to be marketed here, although I never really took any great interest.
I do have a few friends who have been to the United States and always rave about the famous Hershey bars.
Today I was browsing around a shop in the Arndale Centre and noticed Hershey bars on sale, so I decided to buy one to see what all the fuss was about. The one that I ended up with was Cookies and Crème.
This tastes just like any other white chocolate to me, just like the Milky bar that has been popular here for many years. I did like it, but cannot see what is so special about it.

The white chocolate bar is fairly new, and not traditional. I can't imagine any way to make white chocolate taste better or different. The milk chocolate bar is the one Hershey is famous for, or the little Hershey kisses. I have had chocolate from many places, including the UK. Each is very good. I mean, it's chocolate, how can you go wrong?

Heck no, Cadbury is much better in my opinion but for American chocolate the milk chocolate is the better option.

@Asylum In Safeway in Chico, CA they were about the same price to what you would find over in the UK which surprised me. Unlike food in the US which seemed to have rocketed since I went over there 2 years ago, even though fuel is much cheaper.

@kevin1877uk That is a surprise because most European countries charge slightly higher for British confectionary than we do.

@Asylum I think you would probably like it better than the white chocolate.

Argh, white chocolate! I love chocolate, but not the "white" stuff. It doesn't even seem like chocolate to me. As a pre-schooler I loved the milk chocolate Hershey bars. Then, the Hershey kisses. Nowadays, Lindt 90% cocoa chocolate bars are my favorites, the darker the better. Milk chocolate Hershey bars, not white chocolate, are the standard in the US.
@LadyDuck has the best chocolate situation of all, I imagine. Swiss chocolate! Yum!

@blitzfrick I expect that both varieties are available, but may be a little difficult to track down.

@Asylum That popularity must explain why Hershey is marketing white chocolate bars there instead of the milk chocolate ones.

It is the nostalgia that people like here. The bar is fairly routine, and not special at all.

@ElizabethWallace I can relate to that because I occasionally come across sweets that I had as a child, which I usually end up buying for that very reason.

@Asylum Nah, it was really popular when baby boomers were kids, so it reminds us of a simpler, more comforting time.

Don´t eat white chocolate as they don´t sell it very much here where I am. Have just eaten something with dark chocolate in it but don´t eat much of that either.

@Asylum
I live over the other side and they sell it mainly in the Children´s Sweet Shops which I never go to. Prefer dark chocolate really in the end I always buy that instead. Good memories of the Milky Bar Kid.

I am American and grew up with them. I am not particularly crazy about them. They are too sweet. I enjoy darker chocolates. Especially European.

a plain old Hershey bar is so much better than a cookies and cream variety

I too have often heard the word Hershey bars but have never had one. I would not like white chocolate anyway. The US are notorious for producing not very nice chocolate. I have had a Reese chocolate and that is something else! Oh my word most unusual.

That one is new. I haven't had it yet. I like the dark chocolate the best.
