Tonight's Writer's Guild Meeting

As usual we had a very good meeting. The focus of the meeting tonight was book promotions or book marketing. So I'm armed with some great ideas and will see what I can do to get my books promoted and hopefully start earning a royalty check. It's been a few months since I've seen one of those. We also had some readings from various members and what they are currently working on. All very good stuff. I didn't take anything because I only have two arms and I had to use those with my walker. So next month I'll bring something to read. We have an author fair coming up at a local library in a couple weeks where we can display and sell our books. I still have a few copies of Scarred, so hopefully I can get those sold at the fair. That would be good. So it was a good meeting, and I learned something, as that is the object of a writer's meeting, to learn how to get your work seen. If you're a novelist, short story writer, or writer of any type, do you belong to a writer's club? What are some of the benefits you've gleaned from being a part of your group? Thanks for reading.

It's really nice to be with a group of same interest . You get to share your knowledge and so with them to you also.

I am really bad at group things, I never seem to be able to get much out of them. I guess I am a cantankerous old loner.

Even loners need some socializing. I know. I'm a loner. Which pretty much sums up what a writer is.

You are lucky to have such a supportive group. I used to belong to a wonderful group, but sadly it disbanded. It sounds like you are part of a very supportive writing environment.

@just4him one friend and I have continued as writing buddies and meet regularly. I get plenty of support from my history groups, most of whom are published writers.

I am. Our group floundered for a little while until we set goals on what we wanted to learn in the group. It's been much more focused and I'm learning a lot.

@valmnz That's sad. You could always start one up. I'm also joining a new one getting started - A Christian Writer's group.

Yes, I belong to a writer's club and I have learned a lot from the other writers. Sometimes I have learned things that I do not want to do, too.

It's so exciting. The more you learn the better writer you become.

Writer's groups are good for that. We can also be accountable to each other and give support that way.

I would enjoy something like this, I think, but tend to not want to drive too far from home, so I miss out on things, I might try to make it to a NANO write in this month, we shall see
