Just been flitting around myLot...as you do...Have you ever visited the "No Responses" button... a sad place, but only appears to provide posts up to 20hrs old, so where do the rest go, apart from your own Profile page, and who visits there apart from you, and those that do usually click the first visible post.
I think probably myLot has the same problem as a lot of these sites... how to get people's attention, or even notice New Posts, other than a few faithful followers (God Bless You), it's a sad fact, that if you are not buzzing around here for a day, doing your normal "Elsie" (like/comment) then you get few notifications.
Seems to me that too many good posts here, slip by, unnoticed into the dark annals of the backroom, never to resurface.
So what's the answer?
The Explore button, as on the B site, doesn't engage much of an audience, unless you trawl through it every couple of hours, and how many newcomers even go there?
Isn't it the truth, nowadays, that people like simple, loud, blousy and in your face, and many don't have the time nor inclination, to go search for stuff..

@WorDazza... Far be it from me to agree, with your self assessment, though you do occasionally liven up somewhat mundane discussions...so why didn't you tell me I'd plonked a W where a U should be ... must go edit, before some English professor calls me out....

This is not just a social website problem but a writing problem or should we call it a marketing challenge?
It exists all over the internet. I remember when the internet was young it was different, then the thing exploded and we found out more can also mean getting lost in cyberspace, yeah.
It is interesting you connected "good" with attention.

@Bluedoll That was a leap frog from 'No Responses', some of which deserve the accolade to' Explore'... so unless you are constantly, nursing the keyboard, you do miss many, that may have constituted a good read, or at least 'of interest' good or bad, I quite liked The 'B' system of notifying you of followers posts.

I do visit the No Responses section frequently, but rarely find much that is of interest to me. I also use the Most Recent and New User sections.
All discussions will start in the No Responses section as soon as they are submitted, but by the time that I have scrolled through the Most Recent I will have encountered those of interest and they will have disappeared from the No Responses.

You may be right that there is theoretical possibility that after 24 hours, the posts which are figuring under 'no response' category go to a black hole unnoticed.
However, I feel that there are many users here who keep checking 'no responses' category and if they find anything interesting, they respond and the particular gets highlighted. I also sometimes check the category 'no responses' and if I find something appealing, I respond to that post.

" it" happens all the time so do 'no responses' if only for a brief moment.

Sometimes I find a lonely post with no comments and try to leave something - anything - just to make that person feel noticed. But most of the no comments posts do kind of deserve that lack of attention because far too many don't say anything that prompts any kind of response.

ouch! but you're so right. people nowadays just want everything given to them. but i do explore. maybe because i know how sad it is to become unnoticed. and the "no response" section is actually a very helpful section -- especially for readers who want to make all posts count, as much as possible.

I only have so much time for the Internet--I have a life--and consequently have to ration my time on the sites I visit. I have decided to only post discussions here on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and on the other days respond to those who comment, go to their posts read and comment on them.

Every time I'm caught up with my own comments and discussions I head to the explore page. I also look at the ones with no notification. I have responded to more than one there. I think we all land there when our discussion is posted. I found a couple of friends in there and wondered why they were there - no knowing they just posted. Unfortunately the ones that sit there all day are the 5 word posts that I refuse to read anyway.
