Are you smarter than your refrigerator?

My smarter than me Kitchen Aid fidge
United States
November 6, 2015 9:46am CST
When we bought this house two years ago I was very pleased that the kitchen appliances were all Kitchen Aid. I always heard good things about that brand. I had a friend who always said if she could afford to redo her kitchen would be full of Kitchen Aid! So, here we are in a new area, new house and new noises. I had opened the fridge for a soda and was enjoying it while watching TV. All of a sudden I heard a beeping sound. I knew it wasn't the smoke alarms they are so they can be heard 1/2 mile away! I began exploring and it led me to the kitchen - to the fridge. The fridge was making the noise (and it showed up on the little screen on the fridge) that the door was open. I closed the door properly and all was well...but I still haven't gotten over the fact the fridge is smarter than me! Photo of the smart fridge belongs to me!

@Jessicalynnt We had a TV - a cheap non brand name TV - and one night we had a storm, I woke up and heard someone talking in the den - the tv had turned on by itself...talk about scared.

@AbbyGreenhill He forgets everything, all the lights are on when he finally decides to go to sleep, I have to make the tour of the house.

@LadyDuck My husband is too cheap to leave a light on even by accident! If he is watching TV in his tv room and comes to my room to watch a show with me, he turns the light out and when he goes back turns it back on.

All appliances seem to sport such reminders these days, now I just need one that reminds me I've left the Iron on

I wish my fridge would beep when they don't close the door properly. I mean, I don't want an appliance that nags me, but that would be useful information.

I could use a beeping refrigerator to let me know when the door is open. Sometimes I think mine is shut tightly when it really isn't. Food is too expensive to have warm air spoil it

useful feature indeed! Smoke alarms are indeed loud and sometimes go off if you just open an oven :o(

I think there are 5 or 6 smoke alarms in this house and they all go off each time.

My refrigerator is a few years old now and does not have such a feature. Nevertheless it is probably a little smarter than I am because I would never waste my money on a refrigerator that was even more stupid than I am.

Very true...good answer LOL! Believe me the people who bought these appliances paid dearly for them!

@AbbyGreenhill You could buy an appliance from a second hand shop and expect it to be more intelligent than I am.
