A small earthquake woke me up.

I went to bed early and fell promptly asleep. Suddenly a small set of bells I have haning at a corner of my room starter to sound. I woke up. The lamp was swaying softly but there weren´t any of the big sounds of a big earthquake. Still I woke up and found my slippers. I went to the switched on the terrace lights. By that time everything had quieted down but I was fully awake. So I looked at my laptop nearby, discovered that I had left it on and now here I am. I is 5 AM here. The birds are tweeting. I guess I will have to accept that a new day has begun

glad it wasn't more serious - I only experienced one small one here, and that felt like a rhino had battered into the front of the house

Earthquakes are so common here that we can only be glad when we sleep through them. My youngest daughter told me that she was waken last night by her BF and he was telling her not to worry, "it" had ended. She didn´t put 2 and 2 together until I told her today that there had been a quake.

@arthurchappell I suppose that it depends on your sleep. If you have a light sleep, you can wake up.

Oh, dear. Earthquakes. I recall the last one here. I was setting on the couch and suddenly the floor lamp next to it was doing a dance and so was I. I was petrified. Glad all is okay at your end and sounds like you have a lovely day to put up with.

@marguicha I rarely see a wooden house in our area but it's good that the earthquake isn't that intense.

Wow and I thought I was the only one who leaves the laptop open. not good though since lappy's need some rest too. as for the earthquake, Im glag that it wasn't strong. I remember when an earth quake happened here a couple of months back, and i was busy on my computer. i thought some things was rocking my chair, turns out a quake just happened. but it didn't get on the news because of the height of the aftermath of the storm.

I was too tired, so I left the laptop for some minutes and woke up after some hours The earthquake was not so small, but the epicentre was not where I live so here it was only around 4 Richter.

I haven't learned this news yet. But it seems it is not a big earthquake and everything is still alright. That's nice. I am afraid of the earthquake because nobody knows what it will happen but it has a strong power to destroy everything in a second. Not long ago there is a big earthquake in Afghanistan and it made some damages. I hope you stay well.

Good that it was just a small earthquake. The word earthquake makes me tense because of the recent big earthquakes. I've been praying that no such thing happen to us.

I checked and it was not a small one in the northers part of Chile. Still, it seems that there were no great damages.

That sounds horrifying. I think without the bells, you may not even realize that you have slept through the earthquake. i probably will sleep through it.

We have earthquakes, smaller and bigger, almost every day in my country. My house is very safe so it is the best not to wake up.

It was only aroud 4 Richter where I live, but it was 6.8 Richter in around Coquimbo, 6 hours drive from Santiago. I read that it was also felt in more places in Argentina, our neighboor country.
