I ate squid which tasted like ammonia...ugh / myLot

I tried this new food from a cafeteria and i ordered something that looked like fish fillet, but when i ate it i found out it was calamari..which was okay.. since i love that too but hen i tried another piece, it just smelled/tasted weird (have you ever tried to smell food inside your mouth?)

it tasted like urine, but when i smelled it, it didn't smell like anything so i looked it up on the internet and fund out squid can taste/smell like that if not properly washed... ugh.. never again

I think when a food taste like that you would think theses cafeteria would know how to wash squid thats just not right .

fortunately it only gave me bad taste for a few minutes after eating, no adverse effects whatsoever

@lady1993 That's good. I don't always like to eat fish when dining out. I have had it not cooked all the way before so I am very leery now.

I don't like squid but I do love calamari (it's better fried). Sorry you had to smell and taste that awful thing.

i love that too, i always order it when they have it on the menu

It is a pity that you had such a bad experience with one of my favorite foods.Probably it was not cooked well or washed well before cooking.

@lady1993 Where I live it is considered a delicacy and you would never find it at a cafeteria where there are no proper chefs.

They were not fresh, when they smell ammonia they are not fresh. I hope you feel well.

I think they have not taken out the inlet before serving to you. You are just unlucky to bite into the piece that tastes awful. Hope you have better luck next time.
