The shortest resignation message

After working for so long and in so many companies, I have come across many resignation letters.
Some people literally wrote a thesis!
They talked about their feelings for company, colleagues and whatever else.
Some people were very factual about the resignation.
They just mentioned the bare minimum, stating that they tendered resignation, and their last day would be xxx date.
However, the shortest resignation message I have ever seen is in the form of a text message.
It took place on Christmas Day when the owner of the company was having dinner with his family.
The short message: "I quit."
After that, the employee switched off his phone for a couple of weeks.
Personally I think that is the coolest yet a very stupid way of tendering resignation.
The timing was perfect! He did manage to spoil the Christmas for his boss.
Since he did not give advance notice, the company deducted his salary for notice-in-lieu.

Last time I resigned was nearly 8 years ago. I downloaded a basic, simple, purely factual statement off the internet and used that. Your exit interview is the time to elaborate - not your resignation letter, especially if you're going to have to work your notice period.

Actually the exit interview is not the time to elaborate on all the bad things about work or company.
It is a time to talk glowingly about the boss, the colleagues, and everything else.
We have to bear in mind that future employers will call up to do reference check, so we better leave behind a good impression.

@scheng1 Sorry but I disagree. The exit interview is exactly the time to leave the feedback - positive and negative - about your experience with a company. Otherwise what's the point? They might as well just give you a box and say 'stick your keyboard and your keys in here and goodbye'.
If you already got the next job then your new employers have done your ref check already. HR departments want to know why your leaving - don't use it as a chance to rant about how much you hated your boss, but if you did, explain why you found them so hard to work for.

when i left my first job, i was crying, and people there said they missed me but i know it's office politics, i really hate politics in office. And I have to wait 3 weeks for leaving, since then, it's about a year and a haft, i already said good bye to the second job, already, and this time, i feel saying goodbye is so much easier, cuz i can really the value inside it. Saying goodbye to this job means I have an opportunity ahead to have free time and really listen to my heart. Feeling so calm, mild, peaceful now Boing

Ha, I dont think I would ever do that, I like writing personable messages. All of the jobs Ive had have been helpful or a learning experience in some way, and I feel like it reflects something nice about the employee - maybe they will give you a better reference. Who knows!

but what the boss did was a little inconsiderate
