Ever notice how quickly reality moves....

as we grow older? I think that this is one reason young folks get so bored. Their reality moves along at a snail's pace. But, when you get into your senior years it speeds up unmercifully. I was just looking out at the leave changes on the tree in the backyard and thinking about the oncoming winter and the one I have experienced in the past. I realized right then and there that they come on so much faster now that I am in my 6th decade of life. When I was younger they creeped along so slowly.
Your thoughts on this please....

Young people move faster, they are moving fast enough to make time seem slower. This is scientifically sound, as Einstein showed that time slows down the closer you get to the speed of light. As we get older, we get slower, so time seems to get faster - we just can't keep up. I conducted an experiment just now. I said to my husband, "I am going to get up off the couch and walk to the kitchen - time me" and sure enough, time moved faster than I did. After all, time goes "tick, tick, tick" and I go "grooooaaaaan, arrrghhhh, groooaaaannnn". I just can't keep up.

Oh yes! When we're young we seem to think we have all the time in the world - everything takes forever. But as we get older, the clock goes double time, maybe triple time. We have things to do that need to be done by a certain time and we stress that we are so limited on time. Perhaps as our age goes up, we see that we really don't have all the time in the world - we start facing the reality that end "could" be near. I know if I had realized this when I was younger, I sure would have made much better use of my time!

Limited in time is a big part of it. I think a lot of people would have made better use of their time. It is a continuing theme.

That boogie guy, that 60th birthday is about to bite my butt. The reality that I feel it more when I go out into our weed patch of a garden and attempt to dig up stuff to make a row is on me more and more. Conquering weeds is not such a thrill these days. You have a colder, meaner winter ahead of you than me and yet there will probably be mornings of icy roads and probably snow ahead this year. Scares the jeebers out of me. I hate leaving these acres but again reality: probably looking to move to Oregon within 5 years cause of better transportation and possibly weather. Growing older is a hard one to look at.

Oh, I know. I am so glad I gave up driving last year. Snow and the black ice that could possibly be under it scares the jeebers out of me. Oregon is a nice choice. Growing older sure is a tough row to how.

@celticeagle Boise has a decent transit system? My hubby does not want to be too near huge Portland but I am interested in the fact that the fast rail system goes out quite a ways from Portland- would be neat to be able to hop on a public gizmo and get into a big city then get out again.

I'm right there with you. I thought of that this morning in an odd sort of way. Life is like a roll of toilet paper, it's slow at the beginning but as you get to the end of the roll it goes much faster.
