Backup Your Data and Avoid Disaster!

Do you keep your photos on your phone without transferring them to your computer? Do you back up your Word documents? Computer data is so fragile, all it takes is for your computer to be dropped, the hard drive to fail or your phone to end up in the toilet, washer or swimming pool, and all those memories you gathered over time may be lost. The issue of data storage on computer media is a major one, both because of the fragility of the medium and the future obsolescence and non-availability of the technology used to read it. In the past, photos were routinely printed on photographic paper, and documents were also printed on paper or written on vellum (calf skin) or papyrus. Our photographic records go back 170 years and the earliest printed books date from the 15th century. Written records exist from thousands of years ago. However would you be able to retrieve an image or document stored on an old floppy disk from 15 years ago? So back up your data, on CDR or DVR (which are most durable), flash memory stick, on an external hard drive or in the cloud. Ideally have 3 copies in total. And print out those photos you cherish.......

You are right. The data is quite valuable. I know how terrible it is if you lose the data. Besides backing up them to the computer, I also upload my data to the cloud. I will feel safer if I can have backed up it in another place.

That's good! I wish everyone had the common sense to do this!

The only way I've heard of to back up a phone without a computer is to pay for extra cloud storage.
