Disney World Deleted Me!

I have been a Disney World annual pass holder for 16 consecutive years. I live about an hour and a half from Disney, so I take the family quite frequently, at least five visits a year totaling about 25 total days, on average. I have an online account that I use to manage my annual passes and reservations. Today, I was on the site to set up my dining reservations and Fast Passes for our upcoming Christmas vacation. For some reason, my kids' passes were linked to the account, but my pass wasn't linked. I called Disney and after spending 30 minutes on the phone with them, all they could tell me is that the last record they have of me is from back in 2011! Which is odd, because I was just there about three weeks ago and had no trouble using my pass! I even pulled up my confirmation email from back in January showing I renewed my passes, and they are still stumped! So, I have a confirmation of an existing pass, I've used my pass for 4 visits this year totaling 18 days, I have monthly bank statements showing I am making monthly payments on my pass, and they still can't find any record of me! Sure gotta love technology! I sure hope Disney gets this all figured out soon!

I'm not too worried, as I have all the backup documentation that verifies that I do, indeed, have a current annual pass. Hopefully, this is just a minor inconvenience. Thankfully, I was checking in on my reservations today; could you imagine if I had waited until the day before, or the day of, our vacation to find out they deleted me? That would have been horrible!

Yes if you had waited it could have been a disaster for your family but luckily you thought ahead and now there is time for Disney to have this straightened out.

Walt is probably turning over in his grave. This has all gotten way too big and commercial, not exactly his view of the happiest place on earth.

I agree that what you said is a major problem for the "happiest place on earth." Their technology and information systems have gotten so large that it is problem quite a burden trying to manage it all. But, in the same token, all that technology is also what makes their operations seem to flow so smoothly!

@ElizabethWallace I don't think Walt would be fully happy with the way his company is run now. Corporate greed has taken over, and money is now the driving force in every decision they make. At least they still try to provide customer service still, but who knows how long it will be until that goes downhill?

@moffittjc I used to go to Disneyland. I grew up with the place. Walt built it for his kids when I was a kid. I used to love the themed restaurants, but they have been eliminated. They were replaced with fast food type dives. So sad. The charm is gone for me.

Great to hear and those upgrades do seem to make glitches in the system, Glad you were reinstated.

Apparently, they upgraded their computer systems last Tuesday, and I was an unintended victim of a glitch they found in their software. But good old Disney, they made it right in the end, and fixed everything for me!

Actually, despite the issues that occurred, I would label this as a perfect example of good customer service. No company can help it when a technology glitch affects them, but how they react to such things is key. Right from the start Disney acknowledged there was a problem, and told me they were going to do everything in their power to get it fixed. It took them three hours, but in the end they fixed everything and then some. And during the process, Disney called me every 30 minutes to check in on me and update me on their progress fixing the issue.

@moffittjc I am glad to know this. I always appreciate Disney customer support and I would been upset to know that they had changed. I also had an annual pass when we visited Florida several times a year. I am like a kid, I loved to enter the park.

@LadyDuck I think I love Disney more now than I ever did as a kid! We live close enough where we go about 5 times a year, adding up to an average of about 25 days every year. And it never seems to get old for me; each time I visit, I still feel like I'm discovering new things!

@moffittjc That is great! Other companies really should learn a thing or two from them!

They got it all figured out. Took three hours, but they finally solved the issue! One thing I have always experienced with Disney, is that if you have a problem they will find every way possible to fix it for you! They even upgraded my annual pass to the highest level to make up for "my troubles." If there is one thing Disney still does right, it's customer service!

In the end Disney got everything fixed. I felt sorry for the poor woman in customer service who answered my call first thing on a Monday morning. I'm sure she did not want to deal with a problem like mine first thing on a Monday. She probably needed a stiff drink after spending three hours fixing the issue for me! But bless her heart, she hung in there, and was cheerful and helpful throughout the entire ordeal!

All fixed! I knew Disney wouldn't let me down in the end! I have spent way too much money there over my lifetime for them to not throw every resource they had into fixing the problem! lol

Everything is all fixed! To reward me for my "troubles," I received all kinds of upgrades and perks for my upcoming vacation. Let's just say Disney will be treating me like a king when I go on vacation at Christmas!

@moffittjc That blows. I hope it all got sorted. I wonder if this happens often with many other people too.
