Turkey?

We eat turkey year around. We will enjoy it at the church Thanksgiving this week and at my brother's house, but we will not have any leftovers.
While hubby was at work he found turkeys for 93 cents per pound the other day.He came home with three. At this time only two would fit in my freezer, so I thawed the third one in a cooler chest. We will eat some today and I will pack the rest in freezer bags for quick meals.
I always put onions and usually celery and garlic with it. Also "Bell's Seasoning". I know I have some Bell's somewhere. I had onions to put under it to keep it from sticking to the roaster.
I was going to walk to the market for fresh celery and garlic, but feel I cannot be away from the house that long.
Sometimes we marinate our turkey in Zesty Italian Seasoning, and it stays moist and delicious then.
I know it sounds like I cook all the time, but by filling the freezer I always have a choice to serve a hot and tasty meal.

That is right, you have Thanksgiving a month ahead of us.

@GardenGerty There is so much talk about the virus that went thru the turkeys in your country, hasn't that driven the cost up at all?

That is correct. Normally you do not find it in the stores at a good price except from now until around Christmas.

@GardenGerty as the New Zealand Christmas is in summer we have a lot of cold meats and seafood, even barbecues.

Are you a vegetarian, or just dislike it?

I thawed it to the point that it had a few ice crystals in it, then put it in the roaster to cook. When we have eaten all we want for now, I will freeze the leftovers, which is safe for three months if properly handled, but it will not last that long.

@GardenGerty That makes sense. I don't think you mentioned that you'd cooked it before you refroze it.

Wise choice of protein for a food bank but they should save you some as well.

We would buy two or three easily. It is not an extra trip for hubby as he is in the stores five days a week.

Turkey is a good choice for diabetics. I hope you have a nice meal there at your retirement home.

It is admirable to think that this 'turkey' tradition is getting stronger by the day - 3 turkeys prove that

It is a healthy meat that also can be used and cooked many ways. Some people do not like it at all, but that leaves more for us.

I can imagine it is not. What kind of meats do you eat?
