I have damaged my wrist - darn it!

Yesterday I bought a small cupboard from the local supermarket. It was on special offer and just what I needed. When products which I usually use (like detergents, kitchen rolls, loo paper etc.) are on special half price discount I usualy stock up with them and had nowhere to keep them where they would be out of the way.
This cupboard was just the thing. Only problem was that it required assembling. I set about doing it this morning and finished it quite quickly, polished it up, set it in its place and put the stuff in it - and then realised that all that work with the screwdriver has done my wrist in
Never mind- I have an elastic wristband which I hope will help the sprain but it means I am having problems typing - and skating is out of the question at least for this evening
Hope it clears up over the weekend because I have plans to be here as the forecast says we are heading for a steep drop i temperatures and even the first snow

Oh no. Not another mishap today. Seems I am getting more news with accidents today and I have just overcooked (if you can get that, it is really too much of overcooking) my dinner
And earlier in the day, I had almost a twisted ankle while using the staircase. And now I read this.
The sad part here is that you will miss the skating today. I do hope you get well soon and get back to the skating.
But still, on the lighter sides, are you telling us that you will be away for another "big" while from mylot

No problem with carrying heavy stuff as I have a shopping trolley for that
It won't be a problem at all as the post office is across the road from me and I don't send anything heavy abroad (to save on postage

@mysdianait Oh, so we have gone from cannot carry the present to cannot afford the postage. It looks as though I shall have to rely on Santa again this year.

@Asylum You got that wrong (again?).
Less on postage means more for the present itself! There are many things which weigh mext to nothing which make great gifts.

Sorry to hear about your wrist. I've done that before now and it took weeks to heal - until we had a locum who said that, really, injections of fresh pineapple juice was the answer but, in the mean time, I should try a course of aspirin (I don't think that ibuprofen was available then) and double the dose marked on the label. That did the trick!

@mysdianait That sounds as if its just a cooling spray. I hope that it works but if it doesn't, then it's likely to be an inflammation of the tendon sheath and you may need an anti-inflammatory such as aspirin or ibuprofen to deal with it (or absolutely NO movement of the tendon, which is practically impossible). My prescription was a double dose of aspirin for a week and it cured it within that time. Before that, I had it for about four or six weeks with no medication, just instructions to use the wrist as little as possible, and no improvement.

@owlwings It is very slightly better today and now apparent that it is not my wrist but my thumb and index finger. Obviously a tendon problem and I have no grip at all. Not easy to about daily chores (such as cleaning teeth) using the other hand at all - but I guess it could be worse so I will just put up with it and wait ofr it to take its course.

I hope your wrist gets better soon. Not being able to type would be a huge problem!

No I don't think it's serious. I have a hard job making coffee now though but I will not give up!
It is already very cold here this evening a snow is expected on the mountains overnight. Hats, scarves and gloves from tomorrow methinks!

@mysdianait We had a beautiful warm weather until two days ago and not that we have to go 30 km north to have our car checked the snow comes. I hate this.

I usually ask a friend to assemble them for me but this seemed (and was) pretty simple. Thank you and hopefully it will be better tomorrow.

I really hope that is a sore wrist than a sprain because I do use to get it if I played too much racket sports like badminton or squash. I can understand the amount of wrist work back then for you and I do hope it is not a sprain.
Do get well soon and hope all will be better with time.

That is exactly the case indeed! I tried typing a couple of days ago and overdid it. My hand hurt again a lot the next day so I rested it yesterday. Now it seems a lot better though not back to normal. I will go slower today and at the weekend hopefully it will allow me to type everything

So, using a screwdriver is the story that we are going with, is it?

I hate it when things like that happen. I usually take and anti inflammatory and ice it if possible. Sometimes it's better the next day. Usually not.

I have done my best to rest it today so that hopefuly tomorrow it is less painful as I can be here all day. I got a spray from the chemists which has helped a lot too but I still can't hold anything brtween my thumb and my index finger. Hopefully after a night's rest it will be mending more

@mysdianait If it's the same kind of spray my son uses for his sports then it's just kinda 'numbing' the pain... I hope it heals very soon...

@sishy7 I have no pain but I have no grip either. The problem is my index finger and thumb so the tendon must be damaged. Today it is very very slightly improved. I should not use it I guess but that is impossible
especially as I want to be here today
