Filing a complaint

I've just finished filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against Walmart Family Mobile.
I purchased 2 cellphone plans for my twins last Christmas through Walmart. I was never really happy with the service. The bill changed regularly and I couldn't make sense of it... but I kept it because I didn't need anything extravagant for the twins.
But then over the summer they started charging a fee just to pay the bill. That's when I got fed up with it.
I immediately switched their phone numbers over to Boost Mobile, which I'm much happier with. We pay the same exact amount every month, no surprises. Their service is decent too. It's not the best, but again, these are 13 year old kids that don't need anything special.
The trouble began when Walmart kept sending me bills for the phones. I had already paid up to date. The next payment would have been for the following month, but I cancelled the service before that was due. To be certain I'd cancelled the service I went on to their website to make sure it was cancelled and was unable to log in because I no longer had an account through them.
Yet I kept getting these bills.
They racked up to almost $170 (I was only paying about $60 a month... so that's multiple months they've charged me for).
So last month I sent them a letter explaining that I don't owe them anything because I switched to a different plan before the bill was due, and if they want proof I can provide statements from Boost Mobile to show when we switched the phone numbers over.
Yet instead of a response I got another bill, this time from a collection agency.
So I filed the complaint on BBB hoping they wipe out this bill because there is absolutely no way I'm paying for a service I didn't even receive!

Well they aren't taking my money... but they're billing me for something I never got.

@TheHorse A lot of companies try to get away with upping their fees. I love how it's always the same with Boost, it never changes.

I hope it all works out for you. I actually have them right now so I hope we don't run into any issues.

I am so much happier with Boost. It is unlimited everything, they always have service, and the bill is exactly the same every month. No additional fees or surcharges or hidden expenses. No surprises. I love it. I wish we'd gone with Boost in the first place.

Glad you went to the BBB, Let us know if they take care of it. I've never had a cell phone so don't know about the companies.

I've had many cell phones through many companies and never had this kind of problem before.

Even if I do nothing I"m not paying it. They can put it on my credit report if they wish. I will dispute it and they have to prove that it's valid and as I can prove it's not they have nowhere to go, and they won't get a dime from me no matter what they do.
