Fighting Addiction

Somehow, I managed to resist it this morning. I turned away, made a decision not to give in. And yet, I am still thinking about it. It still haunts my thoughts. Even as I congratulate myself for being strong, I am too weak to keep the temptation completely at bay. Maybe I will go back? Maybe it wouldn't be so wrong, just this once?
I am a yarn addict.
I cannot resist anything to do with yarn, thread, cotton thread, wool, knitting, crocheting, looming... I am obsessed.
I watch knitting videos several times a day. If there is some operation in knitting or looming that I find clumsy or difficult, I search until I find the one person who has discovered the easy, no-fuss way to do it.
I want a new loom, crochet hook, size of knitting needles, etc. Not just today, but every day.
I want to be working on three or four projects at once. And I want yarn.
I want the soft yarn, the bulky yarn, the self-striping yarn and the yarn that looks like Fair Isle knitting without the complicated patterns.
This morning, I didn't spend my Amazon gift card on a new loom. I still want it. I will still get it. But I have to finish the project I am doing on another loom first.
I need structure, I need guidance. I need rules and I need to stop flitting from one thing to another. I need to stay away from yarn stores on online browsing.
But I can't. Just one more hook, just one more skein of yarn, just one more new stitch demonstrated on a Youtube video... just a little more...
Do you have an obsession? Are you fighting an addiction to a hobby?

I think your addiction is one that is survivable! My mother was a yarn addict also. If a shop had a sale she came home with huge bags full....she used it all - she make baby blankets and hats for the NICU at the local hospital.

That was nice of your mother to make stuff for the NICU at the hospital.

@jstory07 She did it for years and they recognized her for her work with a certificate from the hospital. She was given special permission to visit the babies and the moms.

I don't have the money to have a crafting addiction, if I did I would. Right now it would be reading, but THANKGOODNESS for free e-books! lol

I used to have two large plastic crates full of different wools. I was a crocheting addict. I'm not sure what happened. I think I got a full-time job then a horse and suddenly I didn't have enough time. But surely one more ball of wool is okay?

As long as you enjoy doing things with yarn why not. Do what you enjoy.
