Multiple eMail Addresses

How many do you have? I currently have four active ones. The first and oldest one I have is for personal use. Then I have a work email address. The third one I created some years back solely for my online activities. For the longest time I felt enough having the three different email addresses and they served my purposes well. Then I started using a smartphone few years ago when most of its applications and features required a google account I didn't have before. I was forced to create a new gmail account to optimize the functions on my mobile thus became my fourth email address.

I have six different emails, on different providers, it's just to play safe.

@LadyDuck Wow, I do that with my 4 and I ask myself "why do I have to have so many different email addresses???" sometimes...

I too have a few here and there. In the good old days there was limited storage space and that prompted me to have many email addresses .

@sishy7 I still have them. That reminds me. I must go see if there is any mail for me in those inactive ones that I hardly use.

I have a rather odd combination of email addresses, but it serves a purpose for me. I have 2 main email addresses that I use regular, along with a Outlook.com address that can be useful at times. In addition I have created a large number of unidirectional email addresses, by which I can receive email but not send. These are for use whenever I shop somewhere and they want my email address.

@sishy7 No, they are not fake or ghost emails. My ISP provides a sub domain for my account, which creates the part of my email address to the right of the @ sign. I also have the option to create as many mailboxes as I wish. If I create a mailbox entitled Barry then I will have Barry@mydomainname.com I have configured Microsoft Outlook to scan the sub domain for any incoming mail, which will download anything with @mydomain.com as the prefix. This allows me to receive emails sent to any address that includes mysubdomain.com but unless I have created a mailbox I cannot send by such addresses because the outgoing route does not exist.

I can understand the 2 main and even the outlook one. But you lost me with the many one way addresses... Are they the same as what I heard others refer to as fake or ghost email addresses?

@Asylum @sishy7 This is what I was calling an alias email address. I use my Hotmail the same way, except I allow them to send or receive.

I really do not really how many email accounts I have applied, but currently I am only actively using Gmail. I don't really check the rest.

@sishy7 I know Yahoo Mail still keeps the mails, but Hotmail or it's called Live Mail now just deactivates and deletes all the emails after inactivity for a period of time (I forgot how long it is).

They should work like some of bank accounts when they are closed automatically if there are no activities for a certain period of time...

@kaka135 It used to be 30 days of inactivity, but I don't know if that is still correct or not. My main account is through Hotmail. (It changed to Live several years ago and has changed again to Outlook. My old account using Hotmail is still active and accepted in different places.)

I have a general email, a personal email, email for my work, a junk email, and a black hole email. The last I never check and is just for places that ask for an email that I don't care to hear from.

That's efficient. But sometimes it's good to have more than one too. Some password recovery process needs an alternate email address, just an example of the advantage for having multiple email addresses.

We have multiple email addresses as well. We have one for the kids stuff like school and doctors so we can both access it and keep track of what is going on with them. I have my own personal email and I have one for gaming and of course one i use for business/online purposes(writing/surveys)

@sishy7 I guess it is but some people have mentioned how they find it troublesome having more than two. Lol I just say I'm special I can multitask. But all jokes aside I find it easier to keep the different parts of my life separated.Business,Fun,Personal because when I go to that email I know that everything in it is all related to that one thing. I hated trying to have everything mixed .

I think we have four too. But what I won't divulge is the number of bank accounts we have. It's so many it's embarrassing. We've decided it's time we rationalised them so we'll be looking into that soon.

Oh yes, that would drive me crazy to have too many bank accounts... I usually don't open a new one before closing the previous one. And my main transaction account, I have that one for like... forever!

I too have 4 though one is my primary mail. One, like you, is with gmail because it is essential for apps and the other two are really old and I hardly ever use them. I guess it is time to check them again this weekend as it is months since the last time.
