Finally got my Secured Credit Card

I shared in Bubblews before that I had applied for a Secure Credit Card in Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) last October 3, 2015. And after being on pins and needles about it, I finally got it yesterday--when my stomach was churning around and had to run from work to home to get myself my maintenance. Lesson learned here: Never forget your maintenance especially if you need it to calm your stomach. Anyways, I finally got my card (imagine my evil laughter here) and hours later I'm using it and enjoying myself. Of course, I am aware of my limits. That's why, while my salary isn't there yet, I used my CC to pay for my daily needs such as toiletries and my "manito's" gift--for my company's coming Christmas party. I finally realized why it's easy for people to get to addicted to shopping. How can I say this? It feels different using another people's money compared to directly using your own money to pay for your expenses. And that is why, I am truly thankful that I am aware of the consequences of overdoing shopping on a credit card. AND that is also the reason why I applied for a "secured" one because I don't want to overstep my boundaries. So, I'm just here to spread my happiness and a little of what I know based on this experience. Blessings to all. SinfulRose

Glad you got your card. Be careful and don't overly extend.

Yep, I sure will use it responsibly. As I've mentioned in my post in Bubblews (before they decided to close the site) this having the secured credit card will be the day I start my training on controlling myself and my money and learn the responsible ways of spending. :) Because most of the time, what I've learned before is only on saving up and using those savings on assets. I've never yet learned how to borrow money and then use those borrowed money in the best of ways. :) Thank you for taking the time to leave a reply, @slund2041 :) Have a great day ahead. :)

@SinfulRose It is so easy to get messed up by using credit cards. One often thinks of it as not having to pay it right away. However you do not want to build interest on those charges. Be sure to pay it off each month, so not to incur interest charges.

@slund2041 Wiser words had never been said. Right now, I'm trying my best to pay off all of the expenses I had incurred. I'm just struggling with the system because when I enrolled my credit card's billing account in my "bills payment", I had to wait for 2 banking days. And heck, the holidays had been going one after another and then there's the weekend. So yeah, right now I'm on pins and needles about it. lol. I just want to add another tidbit on that info. Be sure to calculate the risks before taking a leap of faith. What I mean to say is if it's a must to incur interest charges, be sure that the one you're using the card with will give you greater returns than your losses. Right?

If you have a good habit of saving up to buy things, you will not get into debt. I have not paid a single cent in credit card debt despite having it for years. I still save up before I buy anything. The difference is that I pay with credit card instead of cash.

One good thing about credit cards aside for their points is that you can have a record of your purchases in a neat form. lol. I was thinking of doing something like that even before I had received my card. But of course, pay it up afterward so I won't have to pay for interests. And if ever I have to allow my card to gain interest in my expenses, it has to be on an asset that would give me larger returns. Thank you for sharing this. It just affirms that my future plans will work with this kind of track.

Congratulations! Good to know you've already planned to use it wisely. It's easy to fall into the debt trap when using the credit card.
