A warm welcome to my bed.

During the summer season the only bed cover I require is a cotton sheet. At times I have to toss off even this. With the arrival of autumn a blanket is added and it is not until November that I begin to feel the need for extra warmth. It is then that I reach for my duvet. As I lay snuggled in its warmth last night I understood why it is sometimes called a comforter, a very apt name for something that is soft and warm. Warmer than blankets and as soft as fleece, it is a source of comfort as the nights draw in and the wind begins to blow. I love my Duvet.

We don't have a duvet, we enjoy the warmth and the weight that our quilt provides.

Isn't it the same thing? A duvet is also known in England as a Continental Quilt.

@41CombedaleRoad All of the duvets that I've seen have been made from goose down not fibrefill like a quilt.

It warms up so quickly too, even if I go to bed with cold feet.

@41CombedaleRoad Yes, it really does. My dog loves it as she sleeps under the blanket at night.

I can relate . When it's too hot , i just want a cotton bedsheet under me and also a thin cotton blanket and my hubby with no blanket . But when it's cold , i like to have a thick blanket . Though , i don't like a comforter because our laundrywoman might resign when we let her wash it .

I have put the duvet on the bed at the beginning of November, Switzerland is colder than Greece.

it will get colder too I am sure, here it is an unusual sight to see the grass white with frost in the morning. So far all we have is a little mist and some dew.

We're sleeping with a sheet and maybe one blanket most nights at the moment.

As you are down under I can well understand that, although I suppose it depends in which part of Australia you live.

@41CombedaleRoad Did you know we actually have more snow than Switzerland? I was flabbergasted when I learnt that - but of course we are a much bigger country so I suppose even our snowfields cover a large area.

I like my duvet too. It truly is a comfort. My husband finds it too warm though! And it is a light weight one. So, I use it when I go to the couch in the middle of the night some times.
