Can I just add sugar?

I am making these squares for our cookie exchange that is this Saturday. I found this easy recipe for Chocolate Marshmallow Squares.
I went to Walmart after work only to find they only had two types of the baking squares. I was looking for bitterweet and I have never heard of that before. I called my Grandma and she said to use unsweetened and every square add a teaspoon of sugar.
I don't feel like running around store to store trying to find the chocolate before going to work.

I generally use baking cocoa for all my chocolate needs. Good luck.

I didn't have cocoa either. I didn't want to go back to the store either or running from store to store. I added sugar and taste tested it was fine actually.
