How long is your Christmas holiday?

Christmas holiday

Since Christmas is not the official festival, so we don't have a day off work. But I know it is the most important festival in some countries and I wonder how long your vacation will last. Perhaps it will last after the New Year? If so, then at least you will have a week of vacation

Christmas is a public holiday in Singapore, so we have one day off. Some companies will release the employees earlier on the eve of Christmas. Most people work half day on that day. Some of us work till 3 pm, and we can leave the office. There are some industries and companies that do not provide time off. Anyway there are many people at work on Christmas day too. They can get a replacement off day.

@bluebirdfly 7 days off for spring festival is good! We have two days off, but we usually have to apply leave to enjoy longer vacation, especially for those who work outside.

When I was working it was common to have Christmas Day and Boxing Day as holiday then New Year's Day as well. If I took a couple of days holiday in the middle I'd have a week or so without needing to go to work.

Here in Malaysia, we have one day off on Christmas day. If I am not mistaken, it's a public holiday in Hong Kong, am I right? I remember when we had to deal with clients in Hong Kong, I think they have more days off for Christmas.

I work right through Christmas & New Year as it's our peak trading time of the year. When I had full-time work, we had a compulsory 2 or 3 weeks off, in addition to 4 weeks annual leave. If it wasn't for festivals, most of the country'd be out of a job.

I will only have Christmas Day and New Year's Day off this year. But 2 long weekends in a row are not too bad...

Xmas falls on a Sunday this year? I'll work Friday and Saturday, then be off Sunday as the store is closed. I always have Monday and Tuesday off but there's a chance they'll schedule a truck to come on Monday or Tuesday instead so I could be working then. If not I'll have three days off instead of the two.

In England we have three official holidays. Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. If any of these fall on a normal holiday (Saturday or Sunday), the worker is entitled to a day in lieu. This, effectively means that, over the Christmas period, many people have a full week off (the 'spare' day is often taken as part of the statutory annual holiday allowance). Of course, there are many people who have to work over the Christmas/New Year holiday period and they either agree to do so for extra pay or take the allotted holidays before or after the week.

I hope you will enjoy a nice Christmas. Your Christmas is just as important as our Chinese New Year.

I just retired so I get lots of days off. I used to work all of the holidays to have the time and a half pay.
