The myLot 'Suggest' Button - Once is Enough!

United States
December 17, 2015 12:44pm CST
I think most of us have it figured out, we can 'Suggest' things to others as long a the discussion suggested isn't our own. Now there seems to be a new pattern developing. I've seen people 'Suggest" the same discussion more than once in the same day, heck in the same hour. I don't know if this is a glitch or those doing it aren't sure they did it right or what. If you are going to 'Suggest' - be sure to just do it one time, thanks. Photo: pixabay.com/en/button-alert-push-once-stop-bus-623174/

I think this has to be a glitch, because on the few occasions I've used it, I haven't been able to send another suggestion to anyone who'd already received one. That included suggestions that other users sent, too. The option was grayed out for everyone who'd already received one. @myLotBugs, what do you think?

I use to suggest my own not realizing i was shoving my discussions onto others just did it cause i wasn't sure they would find mine..since that has changed i probably suggested one discussion to others...it is easier to find things now and most know what they are doing so if we find you , it is because we came online..or i know i did

I think one or two of yours have been suggested by others, but I had already seen them anyway.

@AbbyGreenhill ..another reason is, we have to select to whom we want to suggest that post. Fair enough considering different friends will have different tastes. But once a post is suggested, and we want to prepare the second list, people to whom it has already been suggested should disappear from the list. Otherwise repetitions like the one you saw appear. May be more than one person ends up suggesting the same post. lol

@vandana7 If more than one person suggests the same discussion that's a different thing from one person suggesting the same thing more than once. To be honest, most of the things that are suggested I've already read.

I can't see how that can happen because once you've suggested a post it says 'sent' and you can neither 'unsend' it or send it again. I use the 'suggest' when I come across a particularly good post and I direct it towards those of my friends that I think will appreciate it. What's wrong with that?

I have never used it so I don't know how it works, but the same person suggested the same discussion twice on several occasions.

@pgntwo I understand that, my point is that most of the suggestions I get are 'useless'

So far I haven't used the suggest button (I don't think). If I do it will be because I feel a particular person will appreciate it for one reason or another. I have had a few discussions suggested to me and so far have no problem with it. Most of my friends know me and have a fair idea what I might like. If I'm not interested I don't go to it. But I can see be bombarded not being a good thing. maybe it's just a glitch.

@nameless you can suggest if you are mutually following each other. back in november i wanted to suggest @abbygreenhill's frog story to someone i follow who loves kids, but couldn't find the mylotter's name in my list because they don't follow me.

I have not try to suggest any discussions to anyone, so I am not sure if it could be a glitch. I just think it's quite weird to keep suggesting the same discussions, as the suggested discussions will be kept in the suggestions list and they stay until the it was marked "read" or cross out. I have not clear my suggestions list yet, perhaps I will have to do it soon.

@hereandthere Right now, the only way to make sure you never receive suggestions is to not follow anyone. It'd be nice for those of us who don't care for them to be able to check a box and stop receiving them.

I never the option myself, also I can see the potential benefit because if a friend encounters the type of discussion that may appeal to me it can be helpful. However, I must agree that once is sufficient.

Will the winner of the button push please stand up. Wow Abby this is a new one to me and looks like you have attracted the button pushers to your name. I no longer get suggestions from anyone and have never experienced this one before. You are so lucky. PS I know this isn't funny and I guess I shouldn't of made a joke out of it. It just seem funny to keep doing this over and over again on the same discussion. Not sure why but looks like they are really trying hard to push this one to the top of the list.
