Raging (flood) waters!

the flood waters

I went to the main city yesterday and it was so toxic as regards traffic. All transportation was at a standstill. I had to get down from the tricycle and walked a 1 and ½ kilometer away to reach the city. I passed by the first bridge (before exiting the main city) and I was surprised because the flood water was like a raging bull. If someone jumps off, a hundred percent sure he will die. I bought my maintenance medication, met a colleague, did some groceries, and told my sister I was going home at 5:30PM. It was still day time. Nay! No other means of transportation around; so many stranded passengers. Nobody wants to take me; they say the streets are jam-packed with so many big vehicles. I finally rode with 2 students, and paid the driver the mount of P120.00. I did not tell my son and my sister how much I gave the tricycle driver. I was able to be home at exactly 7PM, and I was late in taking my maintenance medication. This morning, the flood waters are still swelling; the second longest bridge of my country is just several feet from the waters and I fear it might overflow. Worse, we had tremors at 5.5 Richter scale last night. What a way to end the year!

The typhoon has weakened so I supposed your weather is now fine. We are having some sunshine already although I heard another storm is coming. It is sad that these calamities are happening this Christmas season.

although Nona left, the climate here is still gloomy, and cold. I am wearing my old worn-out fuchsia sweater, and the wind is blowing cool breeze (though no sea near us ). I hope Onyok disintegrates, so no more damage will be done to our beloved country.

@ridingbet i thought onyok is passing through visayas and mindanao, not luzon and visayas like nona. @salonga here it didn't rain yesterday and it was sunny today, then rained a bit late afternoon.

@hereandthere yes I know that Onyok is passing through Mindanao and Visayas, and hopefully will not reach its gustiness up here north. That is why I mentioned our country. hehehe!

the updates on FB shows that the 2nd longest bridge of my country has overflowing flood waters now. I recall a calamity where the flood from the bridge reached the main town (not yet a city before).

Such devastating floods could have been avoided if they were good drainage infrastructure and disciplined people who doesn't throw trash everywhere. I hope your safe and okay there.

I totally agree with you. let us not forget also, the forests that have all gone bald due to deforestation and kaingin. the flood here sadly boasts of logs and uprooted trees moving fast with the water current. improper garbage disposal is also due to the hard-headedness of many of our countrymen. And I recall what EL-GAMMA PENUMBRA performed on AXN regarding PICTURE THIS!

we are safe here at home my friend. The earthquake last night had our chandeliers swinging like a pendulum and our stand fan seemed like it was about to fall down.
