When Chaos returned to this world it was in pieces and fragments of who it had been. Scattered memories of a dream-like past that denied it form. It wasn't until the right conditions were achieved that it could return.
Power over Form: The first incarnation of the dark god was of pure ability outside of a containing body. From that form it visited upon the world suffering and grief, for several years and then vanished again.
At the time it appeared as a flow of conscious that was absorbed into the hearts and minds of the people it touched. It was just an idea, and it retreated into the container to reach its next evolution.
Ability split between Forms: The second incarnation had emerged from within its container and split the forms and the abilities of each. It required a catalyst of energy to sustain its deeds, and needed a balance between light and darkness to use it's reality altering abilities.
Its form was less of that of its container and more psionic in nature. Humanoid-shaped, it had multiple tendrils of energy emerging from its back that covered the globe. Many events occurred in a short span of time. A black armor coated the container when it was using its abilities to remain shielded from the touch of the greater world. Black blades of shadow and a hulking form made it appear more monster than demon, and it fell into rage easily. It was a terrifying form, but fell silent once again.
Form without Ability: The third incarnation absorbed the balance and internalized the energy to become whole within its container. Its energy tendrils now came from its arms, and instead of many numbered only three per arm. It's ability is there, but severely restricted as it perfects its form. Besides, there is enough chaos in the world that feeds it without creating other catalysts.
???: There is no fourth incarnation right now, while it's gaining strength, but the dark god is trying to achieved form and ability. If it succeeds, the world with change. Will it be for better, or for worse? That remains to be seen.

It's not to be believed, it's what I am reporting to anyone that reads it. I have observed these stages. I am interested to see the fourth incarnation. Writing a story or even theories is completely different from witnessing it.
