A Snack for Santa

Do your kids make a plate of snacks for Santa and leave it for him? I never did and I never had my kids do it. I was looking for something to post and I found that there is a cute little book entitled "A Cookie For Santa" by Stephanie Shaw. It's about a special gingerbread boy cookie that is made for Santa for his nighttime snack. The story has to do with two rambunctious puppies and how the boy cookie saves the day. Pretty cute. But I also find that you can buy special Santa plate sets. I wonder how many people have a collection of Christmas things that include a Santa snack plate set?

@celticeagle There were only crumbs and an empty glass in the morning. That's how we knew Santa was real.

@Marcyaz ...I don't think I ever believed in Santa. Don't remember a time that I did.

A snack plate for Santa would be cute, but here he gets the plates we use!
Usually we forget til last minute - and we have to throw it together. This year - in fact right next to me at the moment - there is a plate with one Hannukah sugar cookie on it [ em]lol[/em]

I can't believe that people would buy a plate set for one night a year.

@celticeagle Well, I guess if Santa's elves are making those toys and Santa bothers to deliver them in winter all around the world in one night, then I guess he deserves to have special plates in honor of him

When my sister and I were kids, we put out a snack for Santa each year and we really thought that he ate it. (it was really my Dad who ate it), we were big on believing in Santa Claus and it really hurt my feelings when my Mom eventually told me he was not real.

Oh no not me. Even when my daughter was small we never did this one. We were always in different places each year and it wasn't like having one place to celebrate year in and year out. So for us it was just a special time to be with new friends and share some good food and some gift too. Most of the time we did a lot of cooking for the neighbors and friends and this was the most fun of all.

@celticeagle Yes they were. This year the mommy and I cooked all day and delivered different breads and pies to all her family and friends here on the island. I had a wonderful time today helping her in the kitchen. It was so much fun.

@celticeagle He is a lazy and cruel person who is using poor reindeer as beasts of burden. There should be a law against it. I am tempted to report him to the World Wildlife Fund.

The reindeer do very little really. It is all done by magic. And Santa is supposed to be fat. He is a jolly old fellow.

We never deliberately set out snacks for Santa. When visiting at my grandparent's at Christmas we always checked to see which pies he had sampled when he came by. I swear we had at least one pie each for any holiday. I like book traditions for Christmas and other holidays.

I used to always read A Visit From St.Nicolas every Christmas Eve. Would love to copy down here. Love to have it around. It's so jolly.

I once tried to lace the choc chip cookies left out for santa with raisins, as I knew dad HATED
those...and I got a note that santa was going to return my gifts and leave me coal if I ever tried that again.

Me Me Me!! We always left a treat for Santa when I was a kid. Then, we left one when our kids were growing up. Now I have a Santa plate that I plan to pass on to one of our daughters!
