Internet cuts out every time I use my microwave....

I swear every time I use the microwave, the internet on my laptop just stops. I try to reconnect it but nothing happens. Then when the microwave has stopped, it all starts to work fine again. Is this normal? Can the microwave seriously interfere with the Wi-Fi connection?

Yes, it can, as a microwave operates in the same 2.4 Ghz band than Wi-Fi. If your Wi-Fi can use the 5 Ghz band, switch to it to solve the problem : you will have no more interferences.

I saw it on a movie too in which they try to diffuse a remote controlled bomb. They covers the reciever with a microwave oven. I didnt get it till now.

Yes, microwaves can interfere with Wi-Fi. They both work on the same frequency band of 2.4Ghz. There's a good article about the problem here, along with some solutions you may want to try:
There are a variety of household devices and electronics that can interfere with your Wi-Fi signal, but most don’t have the ability to do so quite so spectacularly as a microwave oven. Read on as we explore how a microwave can wreak havoc on your wireless

This is quite strange as the microwave oven should not have an effect on the wifi connection. Since we also use microwave oven and wifi connection at home and there is no problem for them.

I wonder. If it has something to do where each is setting in conjunction with one another. Hmm

Hmmm, I never had the same problem before. Or if it happens, I guess I was in the kitchen while using the microwave which is clear far off where my laptop is. Anyway, I hope you and the others here can shed light on this. I am also interested to know.

That sounds a real pain. Never heard of it happening before, but could well believe it possible. Sounds like some of the people that have already replied have offered you some good advice. Hope you manage to get it sorted.
