It's time to start working!

I have had quite a long holiday before this. Due to the discomfort of my pregnancy, I was really very lazy and didn't do much in the previous few months. Now that it's the beginning of the year, and I am feeling much better, it's time for me to start working HARD. I am a stay-at-home mom, and also doing some freelance software or web design projects. Glad that there were no projects to do in the previous few months too, and yesterday I confirmed to work on two software projects. So I guess I will need to allocate my time better to get everything done well. It's time to get rid of my laziness now!

I am semi-retired, so stay at home on most days. Slower pace but has its own charms -- siva

Yes, I am actually learning to go slower pace though there are a lot of things to do. I think it's healthier life to go slower.

@Shiva49 I totally agree with that. I learned to slow down after I have my children. It's actually my eldest taught me this. When I went for a walk with him, he'd spend time looking at the grass or insects on the ground, or playing with the sand, I have never really experience so much in the nature until I was walking with him. There was also once when I was on the way going for a business trip, we stopped by, and I looked at the clouds, I wondered how long I haven't been pausing and enjoying the nature. I knew, it's time for me to slow down, and enjoy every moment, but not just rush for "nothing".

@kaka135 I have seen few working till their last days. It is okay if we own the business but not when others kick us around. So I feel we should smell the roses too along the way without feeling guilty - siva

@allknowing I will remember this, and see if I have a chance to watch it. It seems like a great movie from the review I read. Thanks for recommending this.

Sure, I believe we can do it! Whenever I am feeling lazy (I always feel lazy once in a while for a short period), I always look for motivation, then I become very energetic in doing things. Let's get motivated and do it!

How far along are you in your pregnancy? I remember those days when I was pregnant and had to work. With my son, I worked up until the day he was born.

Mine is 5 months old now. Yes, I think most working women are still working when they are pregnant. I still worked in my previous two pregnancies. This time, it just happened that I was feeling unwell in the first few months, and sometimes not too well even now, and I didn't have much work to do as a freelancer. Perhaps I am older now.

@kaka135 Each pregnancy is different. With my daughter, it was difficult and I was sick a lot. With my son, it was a breeze and I really was able to enjoy it.

Workers working at a fast pace to my mind is unnecessary!
Of course what we work at is important too I think. I am always busy doing nothing, but working so hard at that. What I mean is that I spend hours writing on these sites, for peanuts. I spend hours doing surveys for more peanuts. I spend hours trying to sell books and things on the internet, also again for peanuts, given the time spent on them. It is really good if we can balance our work, with our livelihood, and not be forced by necessity to scrape together a few dollars, as I do. Count your blessings if you have a paying job. There would be more work around I think, if the work scheduled pace of that work wasn't so frantic these days. Whenever they build anything, a new shop, or train station, they have all of their little ants beavering away 24 hours a day, seven days a week, getting the project completed as fast as they can, because of the penalty clause in the contract, coming into force if they don't. I do not like the current work environment much where I live at all. Working harder is not necessarily working smarter!

When I think about work, I'd prefer to choose the work I love to do. I also work on the sites that pay very little, but I enjoy spending time in those sites, such as mylot. Yes, I think I am blessed as I have the ability to choose the job or work I like to do, I know this doesn't happen to everyone. I always think Australia is a good place to work. I thought of working there after I finished my studies there, but at last, I decided to come back to my own country, as my family is here. Yes, I need to work smart and not being too lazy as well. I haven't been working on my projects for days.

I think it is better for you to focus on your health, and your unborn than to work online. At least you can rest assured that you do not overwork, and overstretch yourself.

It's not online work, it's actually offline work - programming work. I feel much better now, so I think it's okay for me to work now. I think most working mothers still need to work when they are pregnant. I still worked in my first two pregnancies. Perhaps I am a bit older now, hence this time I feel much more uncomfortable. I will get enough rest and not to stretch myself too much. Thanks for your concern.

Your post makes me feel ashamed of myself. I have been having fun and fun alone for the last couple of years.

I think that's totally fine. It's always good to have fun. I think having fun and plainly being lazy are different. I am working and having fun at the same time sometimes, when work goes well. I just have more responsibilities now, hence I just have to work hard and try to enjoy at the same time. I guess I will just enjoy myself all the time after I have retired, and not to worry about meeting the deadlines or rushing for work.

Sorry you cannot continue to be lazy. I know how nice it is to be able to have lazy days from time to time. I do not have that privilege often. I guess today is one of my lazy days. I am enjoying being here at myLot.

It's okay. Actually I don't like myself to be lazy always. It's just feel good to be more productive and effective. Of course, being lazy once in a while is good!

I think it can be done if I can manage my time better, and have better discipline. But sometimes I think I spend too much time in mylot.

Thanks. This is not my first child, but the third. Yes, I am trying to get as much rest as I can now, as my two older children can play on their own sometimes. I am sure I will be busier when the baby is born, but I am glad to have two little helpers at home as well.

It is easy to get using to doing virtually nothing. I'm surprised how much I can get done if I can just get motivated. You sound pretty busy.

Yes, when I am motivated, I feel like I can do a lot of things. But when I am not, I feel like doing nothing for the whole day. Anyway, I like being motivated, it makes me feel good. I guess many young mothers are busy, as they need to take care of the children and work as well. I am glad my husband helps when he is at home, and sometimes the children help a little bit as well.

How do you think to organize your time when the baby will be born? You have homeschooling, the design projects and then you will have the baby, it's hard to do everything.

Yes, I understand it will not be easy when the baby is born. Hence, I am trying to complete these two projects before the baby is born. Now I am organizing my time to prepare for homeschooling and work. I believe I can handle them well, but of course, I need to be a bit more discipline. Mylot is always a big distraction to me, but I think it's a place for me to relax and also learn something new. Glad that I don't need to do grocery shopping, and my husband helps with the housework when he's at home.
