My Favorite Hideaway

I read a post by Morning Girl a little while ago about her favorite place to visit, and it does look like a little piece of heaven.
However, my favorite hideaway was not a vacation place, but it was a place I used to go when things got too much at home and I needed to get away for a period of time and just think and relax and yes, sometimes cry.
About a block from my home was an old abandoned factory. Out in back was the ledge where they unloaded the railroad cars. It was there I went to sit on that ledge, which might even been a loading dock as it was quite wide. I could sit there by the hour. It was so quiet, and nobody ever knew I was there, and nobody ever asked me where I was when I did go back home.
It was peaceful there, and occasionally a train went by when I was there and I would wave to the man in the caboose, who was the only one who ever saw me.
That was my favorite hideaway, and all mine. I didn't share it with anyone.
Did you have a favorite place to go to just get away for a little while?
Thanks for reading.

There were a couple of docks I would go and sit on that was on the bayou near my house. One was near a boat launch that at that time wasn't used much and the other was a dock connected to a boathouse that wasn't being used. It was a nice place to escape to and write poetry and talk to God especially when the rejection feeling at home got too strong to handle.

When I was a kid me and my best girlfriend had a platform in a tree in the woods. When we didn't want to be found that's where we would go. I remember one time my older sister was looking for me and walked right under us and never knew we were there. I didn't tell her about that until many many years later.

I used to love to go to the beach and sit and watch the waves. The world disappeared and I could go home feeling relaxed. Now I don't live anywhere near the beach and usually go for a drive when I'm feeling stressed

The beach is a great place to relax. Do you live near any body of water? We have a bay here and once in a while when I need to get away I'll go there and depending on the time of year, will either sit at the picnic table and watch the water or sit in my car and watch it.

When I was little there was a park right up the road from me. Behind thee park was woods and in the middle of the woods there was a willow tree. I loved to sit under the willow tree and write. It was one of my favorite places. Someday I will go back there and take picture of it. It just look so majestic like it didn't belong there in those woods but God put it there.
