I am not a fan of stinging insects, like wasps and bees. But especially bees, are incredibly important for pollination. With the problems with bees dying here lately it always makes me happy when I see them buzzing around my flowers and vegetable garden. I sure hope the scientists can figure out when they are dying in droves. It is becoming a huge problem at least in the United States. I'm thinking they are having problems with this in other countries as well.
I took this shot a few years ago of a bee collecting pollen, he was on one of my flowers in my garden. Notice his legs, you can't see them at all as they are just covered in yellow pollen. They are amazing creatures.

@fishtiger58 lol Probably a very wise decision. Bees always seem to be attracted to my hubs, it is a good thing he is not allergic to stings.

@BelleStarr Mine too, he got stung a few months ago like 3 times. Sometimes his stings swell up and sometimes they don't. Strange.

I'm not a fan of stinging insects either but I've learned to appreciate them for what they offer us. I also hope they can figure out what's going on with the bees.

I agree and I am thinking of raising bees. Here I am on the line of being on the city limits and the county so they sprat bug spray by a driving truck, whether you want it or not. This kills more than sketers

We have those trucks too, they spray anywhere there is standing water which mosquitoes love. Maybe if you tell them not to spray around your property they won't perhaps??

Honey bees are very important and I'm not too afraid of them, but wasps, I could do without. I'm sure they pollinate also, but see no other use for them at all.

I think bees are the main insect that pollinates, but yes I'm sure others do as well.

Two of my children have bee hives and love them. It is the herbisides and the pesticides that are killing them. Next time you see a neighbour with the pesticide sign on the law warning neighbors to stay off it until it dries because they want pristine yards, ask them if the know bees can't read their sighs and are dying for their dandelions.

@fishtiger58 my dad always used the bag to catch the beetles, they work like a charm.

@PainsOnSlate My husband has a thick styrofoam container with a lid, he sweeps the beetles into the container with the lid. He has perfected this over the years.

@fishtiger58 I read it somewhere but I am not sure where it was. They are very important to the environment more so than many people think. They are good to have around.

I'm not fond of bees because they sting. But we need them to pollinate everything.
