the child within

There are some maladies that I am convinced should only be suffered by little children. One of these is the painful earache. Yes, my left ear is full of nasty Ache. Yesterday morning I woke up with a dull Ache in my right ear, which thankfully scarpered rather quickly. This morning I awoke to find Ache had simply spend the day hiking through my head to my left ear. On its way it managed to gain some extra, long-lasting pain. Cheeky Ache. Two paracetamol, one deliciously hot Lemsip, a microwaved Bagpuss and the contemplation of enjoying some of that {pretend} Bailey's which lingers in the kitchen, has helped to offset some of the pain, but it still exists. My ear crackles. I suffered from earache quite a lot as a child, but it's been a rare occurrence in adulthood. I do believe I had an attack last year which I wrote about on the site that shall not be named, and I remember thinking at the time that I couldn't remember the last time that Ache attacked. My ear throbs. Ache of Ear should be banished to the Land of Children and should only be allowed to affect little ones. It's a ridiculously stupid thing to suffer with as an adult. Honestly!

"the site that shall not be named." -- that is hilarious!!! You definitely gave me a laugh on that one! Okay, I have to ask...what is paracetamol, lemsip, and bagpuss? You stumped me on those items! lol I hope your aching ears feel better soon! Nothing is worse than an earache (except maybe a migraine headache).

paracetamol is a common medicine for fever, pain and headache like tylenol and panadol, but seems it's called acetaminophen in other countries. here the popular over-the-counter brand is biogesic.

@hereandthere thanks for clarifying! I figured it was an over-the-counter pain reliever, but just wasn't sure

I get the impression Paracetamol is called Tylenol in the US. Lemsip is a hot drink in powder form, made up of pain relief and decongestants. Bagpuss is a pink and white cat, a character from a childrens tellybox show in the seventies. I loved Bagpuss, and now have one which can be microwaved for ninety seconds and stays warm for hours. :)

Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear about that. I remember having the same condition back when I was 12 and I am telling you I cried like a baby, literally! Sleep for a few hours, then wake up due to the pain crying. Then sleep again and then wake up and cry after a few hours.

Wishing that only little ones should get those aches is not someting I am in agreement with. Let no one suffer from any kind of aches

Ha ha, obviously! I just mean that it's an illness usually associated with children!

At least your ears are only aching . . . not like my left ear - - its hearing is deteriorating.

I do think my hearing is getting worse. A side effect of getting on in years I suspect. :(

One more thing - take care mixing paracetamol and lemsip as I'm pretty sure Lemsip also contains paracetamol and it's easy to overdo it.

@boiboing Yep, I made sure not to take them at the same time!
