Have you heard about the Doctor on Demand for $40 for 15 minutes who will give you a medical consultation on your smart phone.
It is a lot less money than going to an emergency room and spending around $350.00 to be seen there.
The Doctor on Demand can also give you prescriptions to be filled if that is needed. This is an app for Android and IOS users.
These are licensed doctors who are available in shifts from 7 am to 11 pm. to provide advice.
They are not currently linked to any Health Insurance Plans but you can use their health spending accounts or flex spending accounts.
It does work as a friend of mine has used their service and picked up some medication for her problem.
She says from now on this is the way to go rather than going to an emergency room for the flu, cold or anything not really serious.

wow. Technology huh. I guess it would be good for some people. For me personally I would prefer to go to the doctors and only because I have a bit of help when it comes to having a check up at the doctors. I can go for free because here we have something called Bulk Billed. Unless you need x-rays, then you pay out the butt for them.
But hey that app isn't an all bad idea.

@VivaLaDani13 I personally wouldn't use this service because I have a number of health issues and my doctor is very close to where I live and so is the hospital.

Unfortunately the hospital is very small and usually they send you by ambulance
to the big hospital in South Dakota.

@Marcyaz Yeah I wouldn't use it either really. But for others it may help out.
Very good that the doctors and hospital are close to you. Very convenient.

Yes, I have heard about the Doctor on Demand. Sounds like about the price of the ole dock in boxes they used to have around here. Can you use on your computer or do you have to have a cell phone. I don't.

Yes that is a great idea they have there Marcy.
I do not own a smartphone at all, but I think also I have read that some of those doctors services can be accessed thru video on the computer as well.
A good service rather than going to emergency room.

Seems to me that this could lead to some really bad diagnosis, doctors have enough trouble getting it right when they are actually looking at you.

I do not think they will get any really strong pain meds from the Doctor on Demand if that is what they are looking for.

@Marcyaz What is to stop people from being less than honest, say to get stronger pain meds etc. I really think seeing patients is important.

I suppose it has its value. It would be particularly useful if you don't have good health insurance.

@zeebra2222 With the co pays so high now at anywhere from 3 to 6 thousand dollars and office visits not covered by a lot of the health insurance companies it is worth it to use this.

No, I haven't heard of this option! But I prefer seeing the doctor. Now that I pay for medical insurance, I think my co-pay is ...... $40 also!

@infatuatedbby You are one of the lucky ones then only paying that amount for co-pay.

we have a free national health service - a phone up doctor system could easily be hijacked by charlatans and misdiagnosis sounds frightfully possible

I hadn't heard of it. My biggest question would be how do you know you're getting a right diagnosis without being seen, and how does the doctor know you're being truthful with your ailments? I think I'll stick to an actual doctor, though they might be licensed and your friend has used with success, there's nothing like an in person visit to the doctor.
