Day 32 – Humble Yourself 2 Chronicles 33:1-20 To humble means to submit. You do that as children, submitting to your parent’s authority. You do that as employees, submitting to your employers. You do that as citizens of the country you live in by obeying the laws and submitting to authority. To humble does not mean abasing yourself at the expense of another. Manasseh was the next king and he was evil, more evil than the people Israel displaced when they conquered the land coming out of Egypt and the wilderness. He set up all the gods his father had gotten rid of and made some of his own and erected them in the temple. He caused not only his children, but others as well to pass through the fire as sacrifices to the gods he set up. He caused Judah and Jerusalem to sin more than all the heathen nations they conquered, and would not listen to anyone who spoke in the name of the Lord until he was taken to Babylon in chains. Then his eyes were opened and he humbled himself before God and God heard his prayers and brought him back to Jerusalem where he got rid of all the altars and gods he set up and caused Judah and Jerusalem to worship God alone. As soon as Manasseh humbled himself, God lifted him up and gave him back the throne. When you humble yourselves to God, submitting yourselves to His authority over your lives, He will lift you up as well. You will see good come your way instead of evil. You will see promotions in the workplace and honor among your peers. People will respect you. It all starts with giving honor to God and humbling yourself before Him. Let’s pray: Father, give me a humble heart towards You. Help me submit to Your authority in my life, giving You praise and honor in everything I do. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. There's no time like the present to start reading the Bible and get back to your Christian roots.

So often we think of being humble as something negative, but it really can free us up for greater things.

It amazes me how something so good could have such a negative connotation to it.
